it's like asking some one to only watch the 3rd lord of the rings movie and asked them what the hell happened in the other 2. Sadly if know some one with the original on XBOX I recommend you system swap or some thing to get a feel of the first. Still it is an amazing game truly worth being on all platforms!

In my opinion, the PC version of ME1 is probably a great option for a lot of PS3 gamers.

@Kevinsilhouette No its more like reading a Cliff Notes version of the 1st one and watching the 2nd AND 3rd in its entirety. I'd say buy the PC version of ME and then get ME2 AND 3 on the PS3 for those that don't have a 360.

but if you get the first one on PC, why not just get them all on PC so you can continue to import your character? hate to hate, but this "PS3 exclusive comic" is sounding pretty wack. 6 minutes to explain a 20+ hour game? please...kinda sucks that EA bought bioware and is whoring them out. shame on you, microsoft, for not snatching them up first. the original xbox is a BIG reason why bioware is so popular in the console market today, afterall.

20+ hour game? Ahahaha! Doing a good chunk of the side missions, I finished my first playthrough in 16 hours. I think 16 hours for an RPG is painfully short.

Still absolutely loved Mass Effect though, and I'd suggest for all those able to play it on PC to do so. Much better experience, IMO.

@Liquidfingers You're an idiot, plain and simple... you have no idea what you are talking about. Shame on Microsoft for not getting them first? They had them first num nuts, and in typical Microsoft fashion they didn't want to pay anyone extra for their success. If Microsoft was smart, they would have allowed BioWare to publish for the PS3 too and made money off a system they don't own instead of letting them walk. It's not BioWare or EA's fault that Microsoft is just as moronic as as you are. You are butthurt, the definition of it in fact. You are hating for the sake of hating, there is no other reason for you to be whining your ass off about this. It doesn't even effect you anyways, so why do you care? And why in hell would you be upset that more people are getting the chance to experience a game you love? Go be an inconsiderate jerk and fling expletives and racial slurs at other people in Halo or Call of Duty with the rest of your tween posy.

@Dustin F Agreed with you, i have it and i love it. I can't say that buying ME2 for PC to export my character data doesn't tempt me, but All DLC on disc + improved graphics... The PS3 version is by far the better option for me.

@Liquidfingers The mainly reason why Bioware is big company this days is Bioware itself. Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Knights Of The Old Republic and Jade Empire, all great games that came before ME. They always have been the kind of company that care's about their costumers offering the best they got, that's in my opinion the reason why Bioware is great.

@oJMan240o

wow, looks like you completely missed the mark. i don't think i was really whining at all, but if you see it as such than god damn, stay away from opinions maybe? you couldn't be more wrong about me. i don't really have the patience to play most games online for those very reasons, so calling me ridiculous names doesn't get either of us anywhere. you shouldn't feel the need to shit all over my cereal simply for stating my own view, a view that is obviously contrary to the norm here.

is it wrong to be concerned about a game company that i personally view as one of the finest? perhaps i should not have used the words "whoring out". although they are under the EA banner now, and EA tends to do just that with their studios. i believe their motto is something along the lines of, "we need more sequels, BIGGER, with online, RIGHT NOW!" they may not be as bad as activision, no doubt because they don't have a face to hate as much as kotick's, but i think they're a close second.

honestly, i think it's great that the PS3 gets in on the mass effect action, though i can't really understand why. it's kind of odd, just like seeing metal gear solid 2 on the original xbox. i've been playing through the first mass effect again and that game is massive. you could easily put 40 hours into it if you pursue every codex entry and assignment and side quest. packing all of that into a small "interactive comic" is not going to work. that's all i was saying. the other part of my "whining" was kind of my way of saying, why give the PS3 exclusive content at all? they don't really owe any of their success to the brand...

the fact that you and douche mcgee want to say i'm butthurt just goes to show that you can't handle a differing point of view. it's not necessarily a negative one either, just one full of concern. apologies for the length of this comment, i felt it was necessary.

I just finished ME1 and it was epic. ME2 was very good and the gameplay was super improved compared to the ME1 gameplay. But ME1 story is better, in ME2 the story doesn't advance that much at all but you learn very cools things about each alien race.

I have ME2 but I need to get the DLCs. Guys, play this game it is one of the best sagas I have played in years.

The inventory menus are the same on PC and 360.
The graphics are the same as the 360 one unless you use things such as max AA.

So its far from being a 'better game'

No, they redid the inventory system for ME1 on PC. And the graphics and loading are a fair chunk better for the PC version of ME. Plus the HUD and Mako controls are far better. Basically, the PC version is better in every way. But playing either version is still better than not playing it at all.

yeah... it probably is. everything looks better on pc, in a sense. So, since it's such a gimme that everything does, why does everyone still bother mentioning it like it's worth being said?

Heard it a million times... pc is better graphics, better this better that blah blah blah who cares.

At the end of the day there are elements to consoles that pcs can't provide and vice versa so it's a moot point.

Graphics aren't the only reason to play games, as well. That's what story and gameplay is for.

I also think ME1 had a better story than ME2. But ME2 had better gameplay. I don't think the choices I made in ME1 had much of a impact in ME2, so my advice to PS3 owners is not to worry about it to much. Just play ME2 and enjoy it, it's a very good game.

I'm glad Bioware actually cares about their games and gamers enough to put this much effort into Mass Effect 2 for the PS3.

Instead of a cash grab, Bioware is actually giving PS3 owners a quality port.

I respect the hell out of them for that.

Not that the spike awards mean anything, but there is a reason they won studio of the year, I personally feel no studio makes better RPGs. While I enjoyed the hell out of ME2, if they don't deliver a story as good or better than the first, I'll consider this franchise potential lost.

Exactly.

they act like they care about the gamers. Even if it's just a cynical attempt to build a bridge for loyal customers, it is still respect for the customers.

But I think they actually care quite a bit.

It's not like devs like Bethesda don't also make very pleasurable products, but sometimes... I get the impression they skipped a step or two because they knew they would sell well regardless, and that's a different level of respect for me.

We'll see which approach works. If we're smart, we'll consider this when we vote with our wallets.

some of the paragraphs on this article really shows how immature some videogame JOURNALIST can be, the ps3 version of this game being taunt as Bioware as the better version will get lower scores just because ME1 is not on the ps3, so the game will basically be judge by a missing game and not by what it is and what has improved on since it was first released on PC and 360, i have played both games on 360 and will get the ps3 version, disc swap is a pain in the arse, even tho not many recognize it, they also said the mining game was optimized so that should be better, im happy for ps3 only owners that finally will be able to play the game but also makes me wonder how LOW can some people get WRITING or doing COPY and PASTE of the same BS? ME1 not on ps3, ohhhhhhhh you dont have the full experience, well at least ps3 owners got ME2 and MGS4, the one that never came to 360...

I bet your right i can see reviews from some websites now

PS3 owners get MASS EFFECTED ! with Mass effect 2 still great game looks great but with out PS3 owners playing the first one if they don't own a 360 or PC version will it be enough to side with a PS3 version ? yes and no but your missing alot of back story and the comic that comes with the PS3 ME2 is just not enough you actually need to experience ME in full to make more sense and better experience out of the ME series but if you don't mind missing out the first one and pick up where this game starts then it's right up your alley

anyways the reviews will probably go something like that but at the same time lose a point or two cause were not having the same experience as the 360 people.... cause Game Journalists out their like to nitpick things .. even if said game is almost perfect so i'm expecting this to happen.

but at the end of the day it really matters what we think of said game not some review score.

I own both a PS3 and a 360 I'm going to continue the playing Mass Effect on the 360 because of ME 1 not ending up on the PS3. Sure it was cool of Bioware including a digital comic, all the dlc and using the ME 3 engine but it still feels PS3 users get the short end of the experience.

MS funded the creation of the series, I remember hearing it was pretty expensive at that time, and they published ME1 for 360. Then for some reason they gave up all the rights and switched the publisher to EA. No idea why, but they basically gave up exclusivity, who knows went on behind the scenes.

Since Cerebrus network is continuing I expect this comic to appear on both 360 and PC, since it's highly useful if you want to start a second game in ME2 without having to play thru ME1 again.
