So you play multiplayer with the form of communication being making your character say random words?

Online in a PvP combat mode, and in a (drools) Monster Hunter-esque mode where you team up with other players to fight giant monsters

Last Story is shaping up to be another blockbuster in the untouchable Wii line up. Since the start of 2010 nothing is coming close to it.

@Co Untouchable? Nah definitely not.
It's been good though.

If you want to talk untouchable than i'll remind you of the days of
Starfox 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario 64 and Pokemon Stadium.

Pokemon Stadium was awesome. No other Pokemon game on consoles comes close in my opinion. I loved being able to make a team of whatever Pokemon I wanted and duking it out with friends.

Saying that Pokemon is better than every other console pokemon game is ignoring Pokemon Snap.

Which I believe should be some sort of felony.

It may be sarcasm, but it's certainly true. Nintendo has had the best exclusive lineup this year.

- No More Heroes 2
- Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Metroid: Other M (Some folks hate this one, though.)
- Kirby's Epic Yarn
- Donkey Kong Country Returns
- Epic Mickey
- Some ignored gems like Ivy The Kiwi, etc.

Awesome. I often find that most chat between randoms is more trouble than its worth (except for the rare occasions in BFBC2, and when it doesnt degrade into drivel)

....and at the same time, dialogue between friends is almost unnecessary, if you know how they are going to play anyways. It would however be nice to see this coming overseas

I'm the opposite: I don't care to change with strangers but I'm more interested in chat with friends.

Because usually more oft than not, my dialogue with my friends starts out of the usual non sequitur variety of comedy (especially if randoms are involved) and lasts for maybe about ten minutes, and then they talk about what kind of sandwich they are thinking of making, or what they just spilled on their favourite sweatshirt. This is most often the case on xbox live. Not so much on the PS3. and I only miss it on the wii in Goldeneye, where it would be actually nice to throw out the random smack talk, or brief strategy, but it even then would most likely erode into full fledged flaming.

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for strategic banter and casual talk when applicable, But I dont mind the variety that they are implementing. And sometimes a persons real voice ruins my minds image of the ingame voice I have had for them (sour grapes? maybe)

aaaaand you and your friends' non sequitur comedy and sandwich making plans are yet another reason why I turn down voice when playing online. So thanks for that.

So, couch party games don't count? Given that the Wii has a lot of those games, I fail to see how it's a lonely place unless online is the only type of multiplayer gaming that you know.

As for online gaming, several of the most played Wii games are online games or have online play--Monster Hunter Tri, Mario Kart Wii, CoD: Reflex, CoD:WaW.

Should the Wii have more online games? Yep. But to say the Wii is a solitary gaming experience is silly.

I know this chat system is not what we're used to, and we can be skeptical. If the game has as much voice acting as claimed, it could be interesting, especially because the game will support making videos of game play.

But it seems that Joystiq has a hard time with Wii games. Even though I'm not a JRPG fan, Last Story looks it will be a great game, whether it's a Wii game or not.

Though to be fair, lately Joystiq has had far more stories about sales, faceplates & accessories, and dev news than about the games themselves.

Can't wait for the next game, "The Last Story II". They'll stop publishing for Nintendo after "The Last Story VI", go into 4-D at "The Last Story VII". Maybe they'll turn it into an MMO at some point.........probably "The Last Story XI".......

I know what you said, but it doesn't make sense. It's clearly a platform aimed at couch multiplayer.

Even so, I've not found online Wii games lonely. Voice chat is nice, but it's also extremely distracting. I played a lot of multiplayer where there was no voice chat and very little text chat, particularly with Quake. But it was clear that I was playing with real people. Recently, when I've played GoldenEye online, I've never felt like I was playing by myself not only because of how people played differently but because of the obvious duals. Personality still comes through even without the voice.

Yeah, but haven't you ever wanted to give props on a guy when the both of you were in a heated fight? Or in the words of SouljaBoy call some a "dumb ass bitch"? Hell or even scheduling another play event with a group of random people is impossible on the Wii.
Once someone leaves your lobby, it's a very high chance you'll never see them again.
It's like you're just a couple passengers on a bus, you'll never form any type of friendship, rivalry or hatred for each other.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go clear the fifty new messages from my Xbox Live account of people calling me trash, camper, a long list of swear words and racial slurs.

Mistwalker doesn't solely develop any games.
