At this rate it's going to be about a present day 10 year old boy who "is the world's best Mass Effect player" and he discovers that the game is a recruitment tool from the the Citadel Council. The Council sends someone back in time to bring the Kid to the 22nd century so he can command his own starship and learn the true meaning of Christmas.

So you don't want a movie about the savior of the galaxy? Oh, I see...

@AdamSpruijt No, I don't want a film about a character who is different for everyone who plays the games ... and it's not like they'd use femshep anyways.

And thanks to a surprise attack on the Citadel he'll be the only capable pilot left alive in the galaxy, leaving him and his Krogan co-pilot to take the prototype starship Normandy to single-handedly battle a Repear that is coming to finish the job.

So in otherwords, duplicating The Last Starfighter, and adding time travel into it.

This will make the Fanboys movie look like Citizen Kane.

I love playing Madden but even watching that terrible Madden reality series was painful. If we learned anything from the Wizard and G4, is that you can't make watching people playing video games exciting to watch unless your Korean and into Starcraft.

I hope this is a made-for-TV venture because I don't want to be in a theater and see a preview for this. I was mortified to be a gamer and watch the trailer for "Gamer" with friends. I felt so embarrassed like, "I'm sorry, I really don't know what that is and no, I'm not going to see it."

Uwe Boll movies are just terrible all around so as a gamer I don't have to claim responsibility but when movies are based on gaming and are obviously not cool it's hard to maintain my nerdy street cred.

I don't see what was wrong with Gamer. It was just an action movie where the criminals were the people in a game kids played. That was why it was called Gamer. It was actually a good movie.
I think most people got a stick up their ass about it having a title "gamer" to protect their passtime or some crap.

Especially considering that the "Madden Curse" is realizing that you just paid $60 for a game that will be worth $3 in a matter of hours. I'll watch it if it's a proper dark, bloody documentary.

See: Cover 2008. Wrangler Jeans and the New York Jets.

Video game movies are getting out of hand. Most have a storyline barely recognizable next to the original material, and now it seems like this film may be heading down that same road if it ever sees the light of day.

Maybe our beloved video game industry needs to start plucking the highest grossing movies, melting them down into Uwe Bol equivalents, and marketing the crap out of them to that movies' biggest fanbase.

I'd rather see a movie about a kid playing the Sims who controls the real world.

Because it's the closest thing we'll ever get to a Homestuck movie

If they do a Mass Effect movie, it will more than likely be based on an original storyline or one of the books. Can't see the Docs agreeing to them using the Shepard Trilogy story.

I think it could work if they made it like final destination. Like the guy constantly gets caught in life or death situations and has only seconds to save himself. Then at the end of movie he has to fistfight John Madden to lift the.

So instead of making a movie about the curse itself, which would be interesting (in a, interesting how they would do it, not interesting in itself way) and make some completely random bullshit up about a player "retiring" from the game (what the hell is this, the world championship of Madden gaming?) and somehow ends up on the box because he's good at it, and gets cursed? That makes no sense.
