If you're considering getting this but also have a 360, note that it's $5 on xblm this week.

@Dr
And you can still find games pretty readily (a fact that I was pleasantly surprised with when firing it up this last weekend), albeit only ranked & random setup mostly.

@swooded Non random setup takes way too long.

Also, if you don't have both - it's worth $10.00 without a doubt.

You too, can become an squinty-eyed, mustached old man in this game!

Pfft, figures. I checked the game's site, checked Wikipedia, and didn't see anything toward the statement from wherever the heck that it was on the PSN. So, using the 400 points I got from using the Bing Toolbar, I got it for a 360 we don't have, because my sister and her boyfriend like the game. And then, just later in the day, I see this. For a system we have. *sigh* Could've sought out some 360-exclusives instead. Ah well.

I buying this. Feel confident enough there will be an online community like there still is for Catan on PSN. Although I keep playing with the same 20 people in Catan they seem to always be online playing Catan.

@FriedConsole Catan is the best downloadable board game of all time.

@FriedConsole
No such luck on the Xbox anyway, probably because the game is so idiotically set up anyway. If you attack, you can either quick attack, which just continuously attacks until you either win or have to retreat; or you can play roll by roll, each one followed by a little animation. So if you want any kind of control of the game, it takes like 3 times as long

Defensive die = the one ring.
One upgrade to rule them all.

I don't think the game is as true to the actual board game! The die rolls always seem to favor the computer players when playing a custom game offline! I have noticed that when they are attacking you, they roll through you without you putting up much of a fight but when you attack them they defend almost perfectly every time! When you are attacking a territory with 2 or 3 units and you have 10 or more units, they defend until you are almost down to no units to attack with before you win the battle every time. In the reverse situation you do no damage to them at all! This game is a poor excuse for a computerized version of a great board game! I know that there are times playing the actual board game that this situation can arise where the defender really does damage but it does not happen as often in reality as it does in this game for the computer players!
