StarCraft 2 demo deployed by Blizzard
12
The Starcraft 2 demo is now -- finally -- available for PC and Mac. The sample includes the first three campaign missions and doesn't require a Battle.net account (so no online, sorry). It's perfect if you're still debating relinquishing all of your free time to the game. Link after the break!

I know my PC can run it fine but there is this thing holding me back from buying it. It is called steam and it has magically grabbed my money and placed around 60 games on my screen that I have yet to play. =(

Need a site to know if your computer can run games? Try the System Requirements Lab site. It compares your computer's specs to a game's minimum and recommended system requirements. Link: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ Or you can just google "Can you run it" to get to the site.

I think that 90% of people who would buy this game already bought it months ago, but I'll still give this one a shot. See what all the fuss is about. Yep.

Is there Skirmish mode (offline against bots) or is it JUST the story missions?

I've never played Starcraft and I guess you could say I'm interested in what the huhbub is all about. I'm not a real sci-fi gamer (besides Fallout) person. Does this game require a good gaming rig?

IMHO, game is terrible and here's why:
1 Month after release Total games being played on bnet: 56,000
This week, Total games being played on bnet: 23,000
It stupid, the FMV sux, the story ends abruptly and a bunch of losers are on ladder ready to put your ass to shame because you haven't been playing Starcraft 1.

23,000 games being played is somehow a bad thing? You understand that each of those games can support up to 8 players, right? The amount of people that are actually on is shown right as you sign on.
I dare you to find any console online game that has 23,000 games running ever.
The story ends because, shock, this is part one of a trilogy. Did you gripe when Half-Life 2 or Half-Life 2: Episode 1 ended? Did you complain when the Matrix trilogy, you know, continued passed the first one, and had a "To be continued" after the second one? (ok, I admit, that's a bullshit move)
I think you just expected it to be another scifi FPS, was disappointed it wasn't, and got your ass handed to you in multiplayer because you didn't try any actual strategy, If you do poorly in your placement matches, you will be placed with people of like skill.

To me, the real appeal of this game, like LittleBigPlanet 2, is all the custom user content. This game is really 1000 different games.
