I hope developers are watching all of these "hacks" and making games that reach the amazing potential of that machine.

As i said before kinect is going to rule on the p.c. The xbox still needs to show ANYTHING that really pushes the kinect, so far there is nothing, and please don´t give that old "it´s a new device" excuse. This new device has been at the hands of the developers for more than a year, those games are not created in 2 days ( even though they look like that).
It´s amazing what the mod community has accomplished so far, don´t be surprised if some company is suddenly "inspired" ( steal the ideas) from this excellent work.

@(Unverified) They have just made a bunch of bullshit. None of it is marketable on it's own. They have realized sites like joystiq will print them up which basically pads their resume for a real job at a software company that makes games.

This 80s video thing is fun for about as long as it took to watch it. Otherwise, useless in every single way and not brilliant. ThE hacking equivalent of the keyboard cat. Which is fine, they are humorous. But it's a tech demo of nothing at all.

@(Unverified) Most games require at least 2 years development time, with 3 being a better time frame.

you are right, then that´s even worst... two years for dancing "party" games??? when THIS was created ina couple of months?? i knew kinect was having a hard time but now i see how hard really is......

The launch games for Kinect are way more sophisticated than this. Showing some 3D point cloud isn't rocket science, the hardware pretty much does it for free without any extra processing required.

@Jack Kevorkian

This guy is correct.

Someone tell me what the practical gaming purpose of this is? What about...

The bird puppet?

Playing mario (that worked real swell)?

The only one so far has been the lightsaber. That's one. One thing.

One. Thing.

@Credge yeah, i guess the air guitar is so useless that actvision is never ever going to use it as a game idea.

Remember that those "stupid" no game ideas are what sometimes gives you a great idea, that´s the problem today. everybody thinks that the only way to create a game is by hiring 30 of the best screenwriters of hollywood. This "stupid" demos are exactly what the industry needs, new inspiration, that´s how great games are born, you don't believe me? fine let´s see:

lemmings- the original one is one of the greatest puzzle games ever, it was created because one guy did a small animation of a little guy walking and being destroyed by a gun.

tetris- a "stupid" game that was created thanks to some small pieces of a real life puzzle.

worms- another "stupid" idea that was born thanks to a guy (andy davidson) who wanted to make a enhanced game of another "useless" game called artillery from the 64.

and the list goes on, so to be honest i love that somebody can come with this "useless" mods for the kinect, because i know that there is a game in those ideas somewhere, the difference is that back in the old days designers where willing to find it, today well, the rather hire a screenwriter to see if he can come with the next uncharted game. Not all the games have to be cinematic experiences, but that´s something that is not everybody understands and sadly that includes the actual game designers.

@DeadInside Dont think so, if u can make it for free with some drivers, do u know someone will pay for the 360 version?

For now kinect is more usable for making rare things in PC or mac than playing it in xbox 360...

This is why Kinect exists. Now we need an entire Kinect band.

Cool tune. Cool video. These Kinect hacks are just great. Really showing that the device has potential to actually be more than a game controller.

This is so stereotypical 80's. I wonder what will be considered stereotypical of this decade. Auto-tuning?

This definitely was a great way to make a music video, it being unpolished makes it even better. He should try for a flame effect next time.

@Ibullynerds So, you want to trade the awesome useFUL hacks for useless weight loss games and Sonic Free Riders? Funny how the only good things I've heard about the games are from Dance Central. A little bit off topic, but why is Viacom selling Harmonix? If it's because of RB3 sales, I am 99% sure it's due to them not having a complete bundle with all the instruments (2 drum kits and 2 guitars have died for me. Not due to poor manufacturing, but extreme use.)

Haha, sorry. Went on a bit of a rant there.

How bout you make a game for kinect and show us all how fast and easy you can make it. Using your knowledge and ability of game development I want you to show these dev's how to grasp this new technology.

Obviously in your eyes making games for kinect and that's fun to the gaming public both casual and hardcore is easy to do.

Sorry for the rant but I am tired of people wanting new kinect games here and now. Have patients new games will come sheeesh just relax. If you know nothing about making games, nor making games with new technology just shut up and wait and see what they can produce,

Cool concepts? Sure.

But apart from they they really have not practicality.

Another proof that Kinect definitely has a lot of potential. MS should stop being stubborn and expand their horizons if they want this dream machine to maximize its potential.

Who knows, we might even see it applied in military and medical equipment in the near future.
