umh, the idea is nice, but the workmanship is quite shoddy to be honest...

It's a prototype built for his own use.

I know ShockSlayer and he doesn't have the kind of budget needed to use a C&C machine or vacuum former in his projects.

I thought it was the ugliest thing.. ever.

Also, I like when people say "backing up games", like its not going to make them seem any less a pirate. They should be beat with a stick. >.>

@Abriael Yeah, that just looked horrible. I dont see how they could say it was one of, if not the best.

Dude. They are Gamecube games. Chill out. I have like twenty or so in a closet somewhere. They arent expensive, and they are effing everywhere, so if he wants to back them up, then cut him some slack.
...as soon as someone says "Back-up", all sorts of people come out of the woodwork with their whole "nudge-nudge, wink-wink" routine. Don't mean to come off as harsh, but it kinda makes you look like a jerk...

@Esposch A battery-powered, fully portable Wii with all the games you could possibly want to play built in. Seems very useful to me.

If by 'awesome' you mean it looks like an Atari Lynx had sex with a tupperware box, I agree.

@This Little Man Says His Name Is
I remember this moron by the name of primass, kept saying he wanted UMPCs with full a touch-typable keyboard

Now given I have a small keyboard about the size of a UMPC, and even that was too small to "touch type" on it, you'd need an almost full sized keyboard to do so. So we mocked him for wanting a device that youd need clown pants for.

perhaps they werent serious, and just trying to mock primass?

Is this made by the pyromaniac sporting a bowl cut that is linked after the video? This thing's got to be a national security risk.

Does anyone know if that flame throwing man at 5:10 in the video is the guy who made this Wii mod? Or is he a director/deisgner of one of the games shown.

Interesting. Looks much more extensive than most portable console mods if only because he removed the DVD drive entirely and replaced it with a pirate/backup loader. Of course it's not Nintendo sanctioned, but neither is making a new chassis for your console.

BTW, this is more of a Wii netbook than a Wii laptop :P

The only thing that this has over http://www.amazon.com/Wii-7-LCD-Portable-Monitor-Nintendo/dp/B000VYWOJ0 is the fact that it has a rechargeable battery.

Nice proof of concept, as said pity about the black plastic lunch box look. Can't wait to see version 2.0, wasn't it an option to keep the original Wii box and add the hinged screen to that? as it doesn't look any smaller.
Maybe a removable Gamecube port so all you see is a plug point that the adaptor could plug into so I't better hidden and optional, or a wavebird transmitter hidden inside with a power switch to save power.

If it still had a video out cable, it would be so much cooler... a portable Wii is somehow a little... depressing... if you can't hook it up to a large TV or to a projector to enjoy a good multiplayer game like Brawl. Imagine four fully grown men sitting in front of that thing tapping on their controllers, trying to score a few KOs. (And no comments about fully grown men not playing on the Wii, or any innuendo about tapping controllers, please)
