Fox News....
"Family Value"
"Video Game is Evil"
"Internet is Evil"
Their article says, "3D Games can ruin children's eyes, Nintendo Warns"
....
ruin and harm are not the same word.
isn't it so Fair&Balanced?

Those are little broad, I suspect their headlines will be more along the lines of:

FOX News: "New Nintendo 3DS Will Destroy Your Child's Eyesight; Obama Wants American Children to Go Blind."

or

"Obama Buys 3DS for Daughters." - (but then they discuss for 30 minutes why this action proves he's the Anti-Christ)

Final. It was announced awhile back. As usual the "this isn't the final design, changes will be made" ended up being like one or two buttons moving, and the rest was final.

@DeeZeee The DS is a monster hit worldwide with 150 millions sold....so i wouldn't be surprised that some parent will get it for their kid. And not, it won't be 300$, 250$us sound right. Yens is stronger than the dollar.

Also don't forget parent are often in the dark and are totally clueless to what they buy for their kids. I mean some of them still don't know M rated game are not good for 6-10 years kids....

Considering that almost every kid looks at giant TVs at 2 feet distance, I don't think this small screen would hurt them more than that, even if it's 3D.

Of course, parents today are very relaxed, and they let their kids watch TV at any distance (and won't notice if they have miopia o astigmatism).

When I was kid, our controller wires were only two feet long, so we had no choice but sit that close to the TV. And we had to get up and walk to the console to change cartridges, and then walk back to blow on them!

You kids today and your wireless controllers and downloadable games on your hard drives don't know how good you got it.

Hey. I lived that generation too, but we put the console far from the TV, so we were more than 2 feet from the TV :D

Hey! Those cords were great from stopping thrown controllers...so many saved from damn Blaster Master's 5th boss, Alpha Missions' Hekatarian, Super Mario Bros. 3-1, Gut's Man stage omgwtf platforms that I swear sped up the fall, Life Force's Prominence stage, Milon's Secret Castle in entirety...and several others....all conquered but not without incident.

I think controller cords should be brought back just for that reason, or at least made out of nerf ^_^.

@Courtney It's just not the same anymore, huh? Some companies are still making old-ish games, but WIRELESS? Hell, all us retro gamers only needed a D-pad & 2 buttons (sometimes select & start) to kick someon's ass in a game, & yes, the controllers are WIRED! Youngsters all they care about is texting & "iPods". What happened to the good old days?

Like the first story I read said about this, this is no more than the eye warning for kids for the Virtual Boy, but it was 6, not 7.

It's not something you have to worry about if you are older, and it's probably just a precaution anyway. It's to keep a kid's still-developing eyes from being weirded out by the depth tricking the device uses.

But it won't stop major news outlets from running stupid stories like "NEW NINTENDO SYSTEM MAKES KIDS BLIND!", and "DON'T LET YOU KIDS PLAY THIS GAME! IT'LL MAKE THEM BLIND!"

Watch GameStop counters be forced to have a big warning on them about it.

The funny thing is I bet most people will turn the 3D off after a few months. Also I wish the touch screen was like the iPhone's. After using that it's hard for me to use a stylus, but that might be awkward to play....

Actually... I almost never use my stylus unless I need really good precision, which is almost never in the games I've played.

I'm envious of any six year old whose parents willingly spend $200+ on a device they could easily destroy in a tantrum, an experiment in flushing the big kids potty, or just trade it away for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Thrower.

Ah, the pizza thrower.

I vividly remember my pizza thrower ninja turtles, as well as the ones where you put the little red plastic piece that looks like a cable tie in their back, and when you pull it out at just the right speed it would say "cowabunga" or somethinglike that. Those were the days.

I'm going to persuade my parents into buying one for my litle cousins birthday and then read the warning labels and be like Omg you can't use it it's bad for you, then I'm going to take it home and my parents won't be able to say a thing. :)

And what's the bet, even if they throw every warning label in the book on their product/advertising....some idiot parent is going to give it to their kid anyway..and if/when damage is done...they will SWEAR they weren't told and pull the lawsuit card.

I'm calling it now.
