Limbo drops to $10 on Xbox Live today

Act before the strike of midnight tonight, and you'll be able to get a copy of Limbo for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) -- a 33% discount from its original price. Nothing says "happy new year" like running away from a menacing giant spider, while having a slug eating away at your brains.

We'd like to think it's in celebration of its esteemed position on the Joystiq Top 10 of 2010 list, but apparently it's just part of Microsoft's "Countdown to 2011" promotion. That means in addition to Limbo, you can download the Kick-Ass movie for 29% off. Like peanut butter and pickles, this pairing makes so much sense.

Seriously though, WTF?

Game was too short and more often than not all of the "puzzles" turned in to die and retry.
It's basically a slower super meat boy that's not self aware enough to not take itself seriously. Vastly over rated. And I payed full price for it :-\

It's a fun game but should have been 580 points from the start. I had more fun with Case Zero and it's longer

Picked this up earlier, been meaning to get it for a while this just gave me yet another excuse :)

Yeah, I just got points to get this and was waiting for a sale. Now I can wait for Jan 5th to get the other game I liked.

Well considering you're known for preferring PS3...and Kick-Ass is a PSN exclusive...and Limbo is Xbox exclusive...I'm just putting 2 and 2 together here. Lets not get into fanboy shit here.

It's a great game, but this is what it should have been priced at.

...Just bought this for $15 yesterday because of the Joystiq promotion. I played through the whole thing in one sitting. Man I wish I bought it today...

@Mason H Visit major nelsons site often for upcoming deals and hints now and in the future. Joystiq is usually a few days behind the times on deals found on the Internet.

Bought limbo today :) happy with the price.

Hydro thunder was the best overall deal during this thing in my opinion. MNC and Mass Effect 2 dlc a very close second. All in all it was an awesome 12 days.

I paid the full 15 bucks for it and don't regret it at all. Everyone should get on this now for 10 dollars. Such a great game. Just be warned that it is a very short experience, but it's an experience you won't soon forget.

Now THIS is the deal of the week I've been looking forward to.

See this is what I'm talking about. This is WAY better than some dumb avatar item and a romantic comedy no one watches. Unfortunately I spent all my money on Steam games

Gonna skip lunch today and pretend I only payed $5 bucks for it.

I was hoping it would be a little less. $10 is a bit steep for such a short game, especially compared to the number of retail releases you can get for $10-15.

I almost bought this yesterday at full price, glad I never got around to it :)

Why do people say it's an experience you won't soon forget?

It's all physics puzzles in a black and white world. I mean sure it's cool but it's not the next great leap in gaming.

On top of that it has little to no story to speak of. The whole game comes off as pretentious and the high price point just confirms it.

Meanwhile Guardian of Light or Meatboy come out both of which are longer and better experiences and this gets praised. I don't understand why! It's good but so much better has been released this year in terms of XBLA and indie games

@Deekman I only tried the trial, but I've got to agree. The atmosphere and minimalist graphics were *very* cool and really pulled me in initially, but the gameplay (constant trial by death) just annoyed me and ended up pulling me out.

I didn't see a way to solve hardly any of the puzzles by thinking them through the first time; rather, I had to die multiple times just to understand the nature of each puzzle. Not really my thing.

Not saying it's a bad game, it just didn't resonate with me.

Bought it. The price seems a bit high compared to the ridiculous Steam sales (I've gotten 25 games for a tad over 50€ so far) but I've wanted to play it ever since it came out and I doubt it's ever going to get cheaper than this (unless it comes out on PC). I don't have a problem with the short length of the game as "three to six hours of gameplay" isn't that much shorter than the average retail game these days. I just hope it lives up to all the praise it's gotten.

Kind of lame they lower it to 800 points when I believe the majority of the other 1200 point games were 600 or 400 ms points. Still bought the game though.

No excuse not to buy this now. It's worth more than $10

I am so very happy to see all the success and praise this game has gotten. I prediced back at South by Southwest in Austin in March of 2010 that it could be big, and I so happy to see Play Dead's game come into so much success.
