The funny thing is that most Japanese players would rather play something like this than the actual Fallout 3.

Are you really saying that if someone made an open-world RPG in the style of the old Final Fantasy games you wouldn't play it? That's my dream game.

How do you not know what to do in that game? It is one of the most awesome game and not hard at all where to go next. Maybe it's just cause I played the SNES version and didn't get all the fancy scenes all you new players get. In fact, I'm going to go pick up this new remake of Chrono Trigger. But before I do, I'm going to try beating Super Kaizo world. God that game is hard.

I think I actually enjoyed FFXII more because I didn't play it until after I had played some Fallout 3 and understood what a more open world could mean for a game.

Thank you for saying that. FFXII gets so much bad talk against it when I thought it was a step forward for the series. Let's put it this way, no one complained about linearity while Final Fantasy XII was new. Sure it had its flaws, but it was the first Final Fantasy game in a while that I played and actually had fun.

I think it's because you replied as if you were in 4chan, despite the truth in your comment.

Translate it to engrish and put in XBLA for 5 bucks and I guarantee it'll make a million. Or as Mr Esc said, maybe put it on DS/android?

Take it a step further and release it on all platforms. DS, PSP, iPhone, Android, WP7, Xbox Live, PSN, PC.

I only mentioned the systems I'd buy it on. I wouldn't be against it going to psp/iOS/psn etc. I just wouldn't buy it unless that was the only option.

Good try on getting Japanese interested in Western games by making it into a cookie cutter JRPG.

Here are some other thoughts on making Fallout more appealing to Japanese gamers:

They should replace the dog in Fallout 3 with an annoying cat like creature that talks in a high pitched voice.

Port it to a portable device. Japanese gamers only play games in subways.

Add a dating sim. Lots of girls in school girl outfits.

That mentality is silly to me. I play the games that are enjoyable, I don't care where they are made. I understand cultural differences, hell I see it in the JRPGs I play. But I've played some Japanese games that are amazing and likewise there are some amazing Western games. But if we are referring strictly to the RPG genre, I could understand that. Western companies were really slow to really get the hang of RPGs.

It turns out Fallout 3 reduces to a jrpg.
Fallout reduces to Wasteland, by comparison.

Actually I'd be more interested in seeing a 8bit or 16bit rendition of Fallout.

10 years ago no one wanted to play open-ended rpgs. it was all JRPGS. Nowadays they bitch about JRPGS. Ironic, to say the least.

Romancing Saga gave you a hell of a lot choices...and it was soundly trashed just for that.

I don't understand internet land complaints sometimes.

Hey that's pretty neat ^_^

...but in order for this to have the full effect of being anything related to Fallout Vegas....it has to crash every 20 to 30 minutes of play, enemies falling through the ground during combat, and your companion characters vanishing and/or dying for no apparent reason.

Do you really have to "demake" fallout 3?!?

Isn't that the games that came out 10 years previous to fallout 3.. called Fallout and Fallout 2.

Good for you Bethesda, trying to get Japanese gamers on board with the games everyone else has been playing for years now. Baby steps Japan, baby steps.
