Beyond Good & Evil is back, clearly coming in HD

An HD remastering of Ubisoft's 2003 favorite Beyond Good & Evil was announced last fall for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Although Ubisoft could not immediately confirm this trailer's authenticity, it would appear that Jade and co. have indeed had a little work done.

@FakeJamaican I'm freakin pumped as well. However, does anyone notice any difference between this trailer and the graphics on the PC version run at high resolution? Seems to me that all the models and textures look the same...

@Faceless Troll I know what you mean, I've been buying PSN cards for all the games coming out so that I don't get hit all at once.

I remember playing this awhile back when a friend loaned it to me, but never got to finish it although I made it to the final boss and all. I'm looking forward to finally finishing it. Also, if memory serves, the soundtrack was pretty good too.

The final boss, as well as the narrative ending, were pretty shit. The rest of the game, as well as the sound track, were incredible.

My bad for asking but is this game good any good?

This is one of those amazing games that nobody played. I would compare it to Enslaved this gen for many reasons (beyond the pigs). Great story, characters, action and adventure.
So what ever happened to the teased sequel? Is that happening? You can't leave a game ending like that!

If the sequel is like the trailer with Jade fixing the broken hovercar & Peyj snorting flies, yes please. I sooo want a sequel.

However if it's like that trailer where Jade was scrambling through the narrow alleys of the city being shot at, then no thank you. Looked exciting, but just didn't have the feel of the original at all, IMO.

The teaser was incredibly cool. As for the "gameplay", I'm pretty sure it was a target CG video, because the character and camera movement were very "uncanny valley". However, from a narrative perspective, it made perfect sense that Jade fully became a freedom fighter and is being hunted by some force, DomZ or otherwise. Personally, I'd love for BG&E to become a solar-system-trotting franchise, with Jade hopping across worlds to free the citizens of said worlds. But that would be asking too much, especially at this rocky stage in the "franchise's" history.

"Ubisoft could not immediately confirm... authenticity..."
Yeah, because they've forgotten they own the BG&E IP and are for one reason or another deathly afraid of associating with it. GIVE ME MY BG&E2, UBI!!!
I hope they've included some more stuff for this version (like an unlockable trailer for the sequel???), at the very least a New Game Plus mode. I've played though the game about 5 times, and more often than not I forget at least one animal to photograph. BTW, that's a mechanic that needs to be a the Next Big Thing - cataloging all the species was fun as hell in the game. I'm surprised more games don't do similar things. The only other one I can think of is Dead Rising, and even they dropped it in the sequel. Bummer.

This is great news since my original copy mysteriously disappeared before I had a chance to decide whether or not I actually wanted to finish it (it was one of those rare games that I started twice and just lost interest in it about halfway through, but appreciate what made it good. See also: Sly 2, Red Faction: Guerilla, Zelda: Spirit Tracks.)

HD version is good but not good enough. We want the sequel. Besides I already got this game. xD. I guess this one is for those who missed the underappreciated game. I hope they're preparing them for the sequel. haha. I'll expect that one when announce.

One of the greatest games ever made, being re-mastered to what appears to be just below todays high end in HD.
How can they NOT give us at least an estimated release date?! Even limiting it to a month!
