Keep bringing more collections.

I'm waiting on the official announcements for the splinter cell trilogy and MK arcade kompilation.

Doesn't anyone want a new game instead of the same old thing rehashed with a few more pixels?

There's plenty of new games releasing this year. These collections are basically icing on a cake to me.

I've never played GoW or Sly til now. So these collections are great for me. I don't see an issue w/ these collections.

If the old thing was good? Not really.

Personally, I never had a chance to play most of the things in these HD collections, so I'm glad to get the chance. I do have BC on my PS3, but extra pixels, trophies, and the ease of not having to search for a good deal on each of the games makes them really nice for me.

Not that this makes it official but Gamefly has a listing for the Splinter Cell compilation for March. I'm crossing my fingers that means it'll be a disc release. Even if I have to import it from the UK like POP I'll take that over digital release.

You do realize this is joystiq.com right? More pixels = better gaming experience. Just look at all the Wii bashing that takes place around here.

I haven't played a Tomb Raider game since Tomb Raider 2, so I might get this. Are any of those three games good?

While some may call the original gameplay clumsy, I find the new gameplay much too... automatic. Like in the PoP games, you just kinda stick to surfaces like a magnet, and everything becomes a simon-says thing, where all you do is press the right button for the right type of ledge. Like one long quicktime event.

Not to mention the ones that I finished, Legend and Anniversary, are way more linear and restricted (only played the demo of Underworld so I can't judge it too well). Legend especially, the first tomb is almost literally one long hallway. But even anniversary doesn't entirely escape this fate despite being a remake. Many areas are simplified or even missing completely, they even mention this in the developer commentary track ("In this level we just removed all the rooms" is something I heard at least twice).

Despite this, I still enjoyed both games, and would recommend them. Legend just doesn't feel like Tomb Raider at all, but the fact that I could appreciate it for what it was says something about the quality of the game (I loved the atmosphere, and Lara's story especially, then again I'm a Lara fanboy). Just gotta avoid comparing it to the early installments.

With Anniversary avoiding a comparison is kinda hard (remake and all) but I feel it was much more complex than Legend, and added a lot of new puzzles and new interpretations of old areas that were a lot of fun for me as a TR1 fan, and made up for the slight linearization of the game world.

If you liked the original Tomb Raider, listening to the commentary track in anniversary is highly recommended. Toby Gard offers some really fun insights into the development of the original, and the producer of the new game (forget his name) talks about how they reinterpreted everything.

I typed too much. Sorry. D:

I played all three. They are good games, and I enjoyed them.

They're really fun, but for a trilogy the story sucks. One of the worse endings to a trilogy ever.

I haven't played Tomb Raider, really, but I guess this is nice for those who're interested in the next-gen iterations. Personally. I'll wait for that series reboot -- it looks more interesting overall.

I too wish for an SSX remix HD pdate. But... alas, we know it won't happen, SSX was too much of a niche game for people, and not as popular as the big boobed archeologist.

Seeing as how both the PoP HD Collection and the Tomb RAider Trilogy are PS3 exclusive, I wonder if Sony bought the exclusivity rights, or if they actually went to both Eidos and Ubisoft and asked them from the start to only develop for the PS3. Hm...

The answer is simple: Blu-ray

@ch3burashka My guess is that Sony has developed some tools that make it easier (cheap) to port high res versions of PS2 games to PS3 and some publishers are taking advantage of this for an easy cash in. The sales of God of War collection shows that there is demand for this kind of thing.

Blu-ray may be a factor as well. Although that wouldn't explain why the PoP games didn't show up on XBLA, but maybe that had to do with the XBLA size limit.

@ch3burashka Legend and Anniversary are PS2 ports. Underworld is the PS3 version.

All three are already available on the 360. This is the first time Legend and Anniversary have been out on the PS3.

This collection also doesn't include the DLC, which was 360 exclusive.

I don't really understand this, all of these games were on the PS3 anyway, were they not? Except for Legend which was a PS2 game, but even it had a 360 version. So how have they been remastered, exactly?

Still, the three of them are pretty good games and basically go back to TR1 and give it the sequels it was always should have had, instead of the sexed up action slog it devolved into.

Marketing.

"Now in HD!"

They were always in HD before on their respective systems.

I bought Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the pc 3 years ago, and I can tell you, it was in HD then.

I agree, I would like the original PS1 games as free downloads or something, that would have enticed me to pick this one up.

But, as it stands right now, I won't bother. Too happy with PoP HD Mix ;)

Kinda a worthless release. I don't understand why we couldn't get a disc based POP HD set. Instead, you have to download those games at $15 a pop.

I'm hoping they do Splinter Cell soon.

@dvdjunkie32 As long as the Chaos Theory port is based on the Xbox version (PC version too?), I'm down with Splinter Cell HD.

But I hate to admit I paid the $15 a pop for Sands and Warrior Within.

I just want to know if the Underworld game will contain the 360 exclusive DLC content. I was a pretty big fan of her games, I even bought Angel of Darkness on release day and enjoyed it. I've played all the other games but passed on Underworld because of the exclusive DLC crap.

I own and very much enjoy all three of these titles on Xbox 360, so I will not be re-investing in this, since there really is no new content worth my while.

If you missed out on these titles, I highly recommend them. They are fun adventures - each of them being worth a playthrough by any gamer.

I should also note, that Lara's recent outing on XBLA "Guardians of Light" is also a very top-notch game, and worth a purchase indeed!

Stay away, both Anniversary and Legend are very broken and not fun. Not a lot of combat and platforming with bad controls is just a waste of time.

Ya still don't get the Xbox 360 Exclusive DLC for Tomb Raider : Underworld (they could of thought up a better name than that though)

But the marketing for this is bad Legend and Anniversary are already in HD why call them re-mastered when their not..

But really this version should of got Underworld's DLC though it would of made that much more of a buy for some people

But all their buying is three game's in a bundle that they can get cheaper anywhere else on the 360 (seriously Underworld is around £10 now and the other's must be £5)

SM987 out.

If that's the actual box art, it's pretty funny.
You have a close up of Lara Croft's face, then her profiled body with face attached, and finally, her body with a cut off head.
The marketing department knew what they were doing when selling this.
