The Beyond Good and Evil HD remake seems a little more important than Torchlight.

The ONLY games more important than Torchlight are Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3

A crappy upscaling of a last-gen game more important than a year old game with new content?

Umm.. Ok.

All I'm saying is that to me, Beyond Good and Evil HD remake is more important. I loved that game and I can't wait until it comes out. Can anyone find the words in my previous comment that said that Torchlight was horrible? I didn't think so. Joystiq commentors are too scared of opinions that aren't their own.

I'm completely agree, Zack, and will risk getting "down voted" by ignorant "gamers" by posting this.

But the fact is, Beyond Good And Evil is and will always be an incredible part of gaming history. I've never even heard of Torchlight. I don't want to downplay a game I've never played/heard of - but the spotlight should be on Beyond Good and Evil.

On a slightly related note - when I saw "Power Corps" I got super excited thinking it was a remake of one of Rare's past gems... then I realized that they weren't talking about "Blast Corps"... a man can dream!

Problems here with putting BG&E above Torchlight

1) Sales - Not saying sales = better game, but it does mean more people prefer it. BG&E did horribly and the net for that game's fan base is small but true. More people will be excited for Torchlight
2) Games being redone in HD doesn't make them any better. Your old version of the game STILL works. And if it's such a classic as you claim it to be, you should be able to replay it AS IS and find just as much joy as if it wasnt in HD.
3) HD Rescrubs are rendered in higher resolutions, but the textures aren't redone. So while pretty they may be, overall they don't even come close to comparison for a new game. Just replay the original again I say.
4) Torchlight is an awesome game that's mostly untreaded waters for console gamers. It's been talked about and they've seen it in action I'm sure, but it's hasn't been accessible til now. Honestly, you can count the amount of games like this available on Xbox/PS3 on one hand. Arkadia Warriors, DeathSpank, DeathSpank: ToV, and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. All four of those games did it poorly too.

Anyways - I think it's an even announcement to be honest. People stuck in the past can play rescrubs of the game they probably already own, and console gamers get access to a highly fun dungeon crawler they couldn't play before.

Sacred 2 is in this league... I might even go as far to say Divnity 2.. it's just a hack and slash RPG with over-the-shoulder instead of 3/4 top-down..

I'm playing the recent divinity 2 on the PC (bought the original and decided to restart it since I didnt get too-too far when Saga of the Dragon Knight with the remastered Ego Draconis came out..).. It's pretty damn good once you get into it a ways..

similar to 1 vs 100 in that it is a multiplayer, the beta was fun and didnt have all the options available to play but..... it was fun none the less, hope it will be free when it is released "officially".

Blitz likely won't be 15 bucks if it's just an xbox version of the facebook game.

Charge that and pop cap isn't just selling they crack, they're on it too.

They'd be crazy to charge the now-typical 1200 for Torchlight, given that it's $5 during EVERY Steam sale, but if priced appropriately then I am indeed interested in giving it a shot on the ol' 360.

LOl this is microsoft they don't follow steam they adding extra content so of course they charging 1200msp and itworth it since this game has so much content.

@bargaingamer Well, I probably would bite at 1200 MSP, but the standard that Deal of the Week has set tells me that this will get a temporary price cut not far down the line. So I'll wait for that.

So is "house party" a spring of arcade? Like summer of arcade? Or winter Uprising? Or w.e else.

If you don't keep up every 5 minutes with these new terms you find urself confused....

Either way I'd buy Poker and Torchlight

God DAMN, if there's one thing microsoft does right, it's having frequent awesome grouped releases on XBLA. Where we used to have just Summer of Arcade we've now had SoA, Game Feast, Block Party and now House Party. Really XBLA and XBL Indie Games are like the only reason to own an xbox aside from voice chat.

@Acosta02

Block Party is the name, for some reason, given to House Party in Europe.

But, yep, I'm happy to see all these seasonal promotions. It draws attention to XBLA and, as a result, we get better games every year. Last year was amazing for Arcade titles. This year, I've already played Ilomilo and A World Of Keflings (technically 2010) - both great games. Raskulls looks good too... I think I'm gonna need to invest in a lot of MSP this year.

I am surprise Sony and Nintendo have not utilize this strategy of coming up with some weird name (Summer of Arcade, House Party, Game Feast etc) to promote their downloadable games.

So easy to do (they probably come up with these names in 15 seconds) and get so much attention. It's free marketing.

All of these "release events" kind of dilutes the specialness of the games in them. Microsoft might as well just give every XBLA game this level of promotion rather crapping out stuff every week without much advanced notice, if anything at all.

Although, without these release events a lot of people probably wouldn't pay that much attention to the individual games coming out.

I mean sure, BG&E and Torchlight is a pretty big deal to me because of their history and what I already know of them, but to other people it'd just be another "hey, we've released a game on xbl this week again, maybe you should check it out, could be good, right?"

At least an event makes everyone take pause and wonder what the big deal is

Think a more styalistic looking version of Diablo. Although from all accounts it's a damn fine game and not simply a cheap imitation.
