Either you know who Aphex Twin is -- and you know damned well to hide his album covers when you try to sleep -- or you're utterly clueless. Basically, the life's work of Aphex Twin (A.K.A. Richard D. James) is to create musical nightmare fuel. It is a calling at which he excels. And now, thanks to the Kinect hacking of one Robert Hodgin -- the same guy who did this -- Aphex Twin concerts have become more terrifying. Because, you know, that's exactly what they needed.
See Hodgin's hack, and its implementation into a New Year's Eve Aphex Twin concert, after the break.

Not ALL of RDJs' music is nightmare fuel. Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is positively dreamy from start to finish :)

Windowlicker is still one of the best music videos around!
RDJ is the last musician who I am yet to see live (hope to rectify that this March!) and make my life complete!

The only thing that would make this nightnarish would be not being able to find a bottle of aspirin and some earplugs.

i will agree. Aphex makes some frightening music, but also a lot of beautiful tracks.

I didn't know Kinect could be used for such villainy. That video with the cat is the work of far greater forces than we can comprehend.

i once played the collected ambient works with the volume low while i slept. i woke up at least three times terrified and very confused. when i woke in the morning i was exhausted from dreaming.
messed up stuff, but i love it.

Been listening to RDJ since like 97, just apparently after one of his 3 shows he's done in the US. Missed him at Coachella last year, but he just DJed it. He doesn't seem to do live sets, so I don't have as much interest as I probably should.

This is great for live effects.
Actually reminds me a bit of Chris Cunningham's Flora commercial.
Also reminds me that Chris Cunningham needs to return to the film as a medium.

I didn't do drugs in High School. I recorded Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 onto tape and listened to it on my Walkman while wandering around on the beach. That was all I needed for a head trip.

Go hunt down Chris Cunningham's "Rubber Johnny" short film (Aphex Twin does the soundtrack). You will swear you somehow took acid through your computer.
