If torchlight pulls off a fun experience and good sales than d3 is going to be on console for sure. Actibliz don't pass on no moneymaking opportunity.

i dunno, Blizzard has said on several occasions that Diablo 3's gameplay would work well on consoles, and if i remember right they had some job postings for console related positions awhile back.

it would not suprise me at all to see a diablo 3 port to 360/ps3.

I just hope they dont try to do it day and date with the PC release, i dont wanna wait any longer!

I believe it's a possibility as well... it's just a matter of how much effort is put into the console ports.

@JnRx I think Diablo 3 Can be on the consoles if they are willing to really putting effort into making it work with a controller O_o I'm sure there have been MANY game projects where people said it would never happend and it ended up being uhmazing :) I think Blizzard can do eet if they wanted to and I'm sure Activision is game as well.

"Runic likes the Xbox Live platform and "had some good talks with the Microsoft guys," so Schaefer says the deal came together quickly and went well."

Which means Microsoft sat him down and pushed a briefcase full of cash to him.

Not necessarily. Just because a group says they like a certain platform doesn't mean it's because the force behind that platform paid them.

Indeed. Remember Ps3 is the harder platform to work on. Did Sony ever release an improved SDK? I never heard they did. What's the licensing fee on the Ps3 SDK compared to the XB360 one? Microsoft pays for the storage and distribution of XBL content, Sony doesn't.Runic is small, these kind of things can sway a preference.

Also Sony hardly ever advertises their arcade releases. I mean, most Arcade games are right there in an 'ad' the second you turn on your xbox

Really? Not quite sure in what world I see Sony and Microsoft clambering to get Torchlight as an exclusive win for their system.

Sure, Microsoft is putting them in their Spring of Stuff or whatever its called and the Xbox is easier to develop on for PC-geared guys, but that's just standard business for them-- not exactly closet bribray

There were reports of multiplayer in Torchlight XBLA, but they ended up being false. Reporters mistook a quote, and the multiplayer "element" ending up being something really lame, like "if you invite friends to buy it, and they do, you get items".

Torchlight 2 will come out on PC this year, and should feature coop. If Torchlight XBLA is successful, the XBLA sequel should come out sometime next year.

the PC version didn't have co-op either, its strictly a single player game.

Torchlight 2 (due out sometime this year) is a different matter though, that will have co-op, and Runic is alo working on a Torchlight MMO, don't know if either of those will make it to consoles though.

@WiNGSPANTT from TopTierTacticsco You can't. But I didn't miss it as I played -- the info field in top center shows the health bars and name of whatever you happen to be hitting as you're hitting it, and it's pretty intuitive. If you want to seek out bad guys super early, you might not be able to that, but I was never confused or surprised when I rolled up on a named baddie.

@This Little Man Says His Name Is unless it reaches Castle Crashers success. Then they might port it over in a couple of years or something.

I mean, if you cared that much it could still happen.

Good for Runic, they made a stellar game with Torchlight. hopefully this helps generate even more income so they can keep working on equaly stellar products in the future.

I don't care for Diablo-like games (that is if you do not include DeathSpank into the lot), but Torchlight sounds interesting... We'll see how the trial fares...

I'm sorry to break it to you, but you probably won't like it. It's a great, fun little game, but gameplay-wise it is literally an exact clone of Diablo 1.

I've sunk who knows how many hours into the PC version and I am still tempted to pick this up if only to try it with a controller. I guess we will see how it works in the demo.

If you've got a PC dongle for your wireless X360 controller or have a wired controller, I'm sure you could use Xpadder or something similar to set this up. The downside is they redid movement control for the XBLA version, so movement would probably be awkward using the PC version. I'm not sure Runic would consider issuing a controller support patch at this point, but it would be nice.

That's too bad about the PSN, but Dungeon Hunter Alliance is still coming and that has multiplayer. Now if I just wasn't so concerned about my 360 melting itself, I'd be quite happy.

Always the logical thing to assume. A small team that's used to working on th pc would never want to work on the console with the most pc-like architecture unless a bribe was involved.
