City Interactive working on CryEngine 3-based Sniper: Ghost Warrior sequel

City Interactive has announced what we believe to be its second first-person shooter to use CryEngine 3: a sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior. We say "second" because the developer announced last month that it was working with Stuart Black to create an "exciting new story-driven WWII shooter," which doesn't sound like the more modern, stealthy Ghost Warrior. At that time, it also said it had licensed CryEngine 3 for two games.

Producer Michal Sroczynski revealed the plans for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 in an interview with Eurogamer.se. He didn't have much else to say about it, except that it will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. We're kind of hoping for more nouns in the title -- we like the ring of "Sniper: Ghost Warrior Cowboy Boxer Cop Wolfman," ourselves.

If the games about WW2 snipers, chances are it will be very stealth oriented.

More nouns, so when we talk about the game you can charge us for vowels.

Joystiq's game sounds more like a deadliest warriors lineup.

this game should remain an x360 exclusive. just for the sheer fact that it was x360 that put you on the map. as recall the japan market ignored you all together ,the only way they play your game is if your charecthers has big eyes ,blue hair , tits & carries a sword .

@kmcroc I had no idea the game sold that well. That's a few hundred thousand more than games like Madworld, with no budget or marketing support at all.

Why did I see that screenshot and think, "City Interactive working on CryEngine 3-based Myst sequel?"

YES. I have waited forever for a good realistic sniping game. One that requires more skill than lining up a good shot.

@EliminatorZigma Are you saying that sniping is any more than lining up a good shot after taking in factors such as distance, wind velocity, ammo type, barrel length, etc, etc, so on, and so forth?

Sorry. I really have to learn how to explain things. What I meant was simply getting a guy in your crosshairs.

Of course, there's even more to sniping than what you mentioned. There's planning, position, camouflage, and escape. I really hope this game implements the full sniper experience.

This game was really solid after the patch released. I didn't expect really anything from it. I thought it'd be on par with Raven Squad, but this one was actually enjoyable and well done.

It does matter how good the graphic is if there is no real gameplay, it's all pointless. Crysis game has never proven its worth in gameplay so I will hold my judgement until the final game comes out. My prediction is that this will be total crap although it may look good.
