I'm sticking with my current plan of buying Madden every other year. I actually had more reason to skip 11, seeing as I didn't like how they changed the pre-snap buttons so dramatically.

Blops just isn't my type of game. Well, it is technically, just a poorer version of my type of game (Battlefield).

Reach comes in at a respectable third, all things considered. I'm okay with that.

I know Madden is a big seller but I'm pretty surprised to see it at number two.

No Mario Galaxy 2?
No Donkey Kong Country Returns?
No Mass Effect 2?

As much as I enjoy Black Ops, I'd really rather see Reach at number 1.

Oh well, that's sheeple for you.

@Burnflare That's not so much sheep as it is 360 + PS3 + PC + Wii + DS owners >>>> 360 owners.

Woah! Halo:Reach beat Red Dead in overall sales?

I wouldn't have guessed that one.

What really makes that impressive is that Reach is an exclusive, and that it outpaced many successful multiplats such as Red Dead. Kudus to MGS & Bungie on that.

I'm also amazed that it beat out New Super Mario Brothers, an exclusive to the Wii.

Koodos to Bungie, MS didn't make it.

@gypsygib

It's as much, if not more, the Millions of dollars MGS has poured into Bungie & the Advertising/Branding/Hype has created the Bungie that =Everyone= knows today. Plenty of great games have come and failed because there wasn't money behind them.

No longer is Bungie only known by saddened Mac fanboys. They're a household name as far as devs go. Because of MGS.

So, you're wrong. Congrats to Bungie & MGS both.

It kinda says something about the staying power of certain Wii games when New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a game released in 2009, can give a game released in 2010 a run for its money in overall sales for that year.

@Mr Fister

Indeed. However, I'm not competely surprised. I would buy Nintendos console for Mario alone, let alone the other wonderful franchises they own. Currently waiting on Black & White for the DSi (which ought to have some grossly impressive numbers by the end of the year with it releasing here finally).

Madden sucks. Something like MLB The Show which has been out for only three years, blows it away in terms of actually feeling like the sport, looking like the sport, and also has fantastic presentation and graphics.

Presentation as in it actually feels like you're at a baseball game with unique and detailed stadiums, batter walk ups, etc. Not the same idiot in a santa suit in every stadium before the start of every game. God, I hate Madden.

It's been out for a gazillion years and players still move unnaturally and the graphics don't look much better than when it was on the PS2., You idiots who buy it every year SUCK. It's number 2 in sales and they know they don't have to do squat other than market it promising some great shit that's actually lame shit and idiots still buy it.

By now Madden should be a transcendental football experience. It should be so close to perfection that I should never feel the need to watch a real NFL game again. Instead its still stale and crappy and loaded with ways to get idiots to micro transact EA into riches. Coins and cards. Seriously? That's what we get? Coins and cards?

Get off my lawn and take your Madden with you!

That's funny.

Some one can say the exact same thing for CoD.

i'd imagine CoD Blops sold better because it's on so many platforms, but its very impressive to see games like mario bros and halo reach make the list.

AC:B did amazing sales when you consider that it was just released in November (and doesn't have the clout of a CoD game which was also released that same month). It's a great game, both campaign and multiplayer.

That's 3 Wii exclusives, 1 360 exclusive, and no PS3 exclusives. Which system doesn't move software?

It upsets me how madden does great every year. I can't wait till 2k is able to make a football game. Ea may never let that stronghold go though now that they have seen the fate of their basketball game. At the same time I don't want 2k to be the sole creator of good sports games. We need competition because it benefits us gamers in the long run.
