Joystiq App for Android finally available!

Good news, Android users! You no longer have to weep with envy every time your smarmy, iPhone-toting friends start bragging about their sweet Joystiq app (which they do all the time, because it's so cool). That's right, the Joystiq app is now available on the Android Market, and it offers all the same great features.

You'll be able to keep up with all the latest Joystiq content -- news, reviews, previews, videos, screenshots -- all without opening a web browser. Features include built-in video streaming (within posts or via a list of videos), in-app tipping (does your brother have the PSP Phone?), photo galleries, story commenting and more. For a recap of the very similar iPhone app, check out the video tour after the break ... or skip all that nonsense, and start downloading via the QR code to the right!

Do more than half the videos not work? Similar to the iPhone or is it different?

100% of OUR videos will work on the iPhone app's Videos tab – a lot of the stuff we embed will have trouble playing back in-post, including some of our own videos. On newer Android devices, all videos will play back fine since, well, it supports Flash.

Does that mean for some content we’ll get viddler flash videos with age gates that are impossible to watch on Android? :‐/
Not bashing the ’stiq, just the … things at viddler who after plenty of emails still havent made their video player touch-happy.

you mean never have Flash officially.... but if you are a true geek your phone would be jailbroken and you would install Frash on it, along with a dozen other things that make an iPhone better then any phone

Yea, but it's jailbroken. Meaning that it's not really the iPhone on the market. Apple limits the iPhone so much that people literally HAVE to jailbreak it in order to enjoy it.

@chrisgrant will the iPhone version be supporting the retina display soon? Joystiq and Game Dev Story are my only apps that don't have retina support...

i actually own a BB and an iPhone combo, and people rag on BB's alot but its usually the younger crowd because all they want is "APPZ WIT GEEBEES AND WIFISS"... i can get more done in my BB phone then i could with the iPhone or the Droid 2. I don't use my BB to play Angry Birds or Peggle i use it the way BB's were ment to be used, for work. I don't need a heavy OS slowing everything down.

i don't think so. BB's generally have very good battery life.

BlackBerry app? I'm guessing I'll get laughed at for mentioning it, but it would be truly awesome to have one. Any chance of that happening in the near or distant future?

First of all, what the hell are "GEEBEES?" & just because I don't like blackberrys doesn't mean I'm a "bratty" little kid. Blackberrys are exactly what you said above, for work. & you stating old phone that run older versions of android on it shows how little you know about them. Try one of the newer models out. Look up on youtube for comparisons. They all point out the obvious. Blackberrys are for adults who don't want to grasp & only want what they are told they need. Android can do 10 times as much things blackberrys can do & 10 times faster, stocks? email? text? talk? weather? internet? it can do it all. fact is, Blackberry & gaming don't mix which is exactly why a GAMING website doesn't have an app for it.

Prboi - I have zero in interest in being involved in a flame war between BBs, iPhones and other smartphones. Believe it or not, I own a BB of my own accord - that is, I bought it with my own nickels and dimes and am not linked up to any work account. I love it and it does all the stuff I need it to do and then some. I don't play many games on it because I don't want to; that being said, I still would love to keep up on the latest gaming news via Joystiq. So a Joystiq app for BB would be a godsend for me. It's awesome that you like the iPhone (or whatever it is you like), and I'm glad peeps now have an app for those smartphones. Now, I'm just hoping they add one for BB's as well.

One bummer on the iPhone App.
If I stream the podcast from inside the app, it will not let me close the app or multitask. I have to copy podcast's URL link and paste it into safari.

also does anybody else get that glitch where you go back to the main page from an article and you get a white screen. It could be because i'm using a moded FW

Only Engadget shows up in the AOL developers. When i scan the barcode it says that tJoystiq doesnt exist

Nexus S, UK, Market says no such app exists(Using Google Goggles to read the QR code), anyone know what the problem is? I NEED MAH JOYSTIQ GOODNESS ON MY ANDROID GOODNESS!

Scanned that code and it's not appearing in the market. Despite my Hero being in that photo at the top. :(
