Free is a very convincing price point, but how much content will be "premium"

So I can constantly be taken out by someone with better paid perks or gear? No thanks, I'd rather pay $15 then get nickle and dimed for $30 or $40.

@sammo21
Yeah I still play it on PC and would rather just pay once than deal with over powered weapons from a store.

Yeah, especially considering I only paid $1 for the full game during that sale. Better than having to spend $20 to keep up with other players.

@Dizazter

They are just trying to be realistic. See, when the apocalypse happens, only the riches will be able to afford fully decked out battle mechs.

I loved Tango Down. I hope this one is close to being as good. I hope when they say "full game free" they mean that all of the guns are available, but the premium content is something like DLC

If they go the League of Legnds F2P way (skins and crap for money) this could be cool, but if they plan to rent/sell the guns on the other hand...

I would play this game more on the PC but there is barely enough people on to start a match.

So this is strictly for PC, right? Is there such a thing as a free-to-play game on consoles?

@Scape3d

Put game on PSN, XBLA for free, sell items on respective stores for prices, that's how it would work.

@MrAlex

XBLA and PSN would never have free games.

The games they DO have free, are.. well.. not that good

This isn't a indictment that Blacklight "failed" so much as that the fact that Zombie Studios want more money than what people are willing to give.

Honestly, I think the first one just came out at the wrong time, didn't it come out right after MW2 or something?

I feel sorry for the devs of this game. BL Tangodown was fun, but it just had too many problems that destroyed the online community.

Match making rather than server lists, can only create new games rather than joining games in progress, needing 6 people to start a game, unbalanced teams, long intermissions between matches. Those all killed the online community, and by the time they released a patch to fix these problems, it was too little too late, the online community was already dead.

Now with this new "free to play" model, they think they can revive the online community for their game. All this will do is turn more people off due to what everyone has already stated, the people paying for perks will have too much of an advantage. If Zombie wants to keep working on this Blacklight games, they need to release one solid product, have a good marketing campaign, and stick with their $15 price point rather than free to play w/ microtransactions.

I will never understand why anyone prefers server lists to matchmaking. Maybe if the matchmaking is terrible (which having not being able to stomach 5 minutes of BTD very well could be), but I'd take Bungie style matchmaking or server lists any day.

I don't think it is going to like some of you think. Here is a twitter post from the lead designer:

RT @Gerritzen: NO you will not have to BUY the weapon to keep up with everyone that buys item. That doesn't make a fun game.

and on the steam forum some of the devs have answered some questions.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1715750

Hope it turns out as good as I think it will! Hopefully they can fix the few nagging issues that were in the original.
