Looks like it's time to give Minecraft another whirl. The note blocks, the dyes, and now this... so many new possibilities.

the dispenser is the worst added feature to the update... while useful, its also a lil useless.... but i'm complaining about a free update, so i'm a moron.

@PR0F3TA Helps me keep mobs away from my home. Also helps me kill myself when I'm not paying attention to where I walk.

@SisypheanLife I actually agree. I haven't played the beta, just the free alpha, but i just didn't get it. I got bored after a few minutes. It seems like it needs something to pull me in, like a LittleBigPlanet style way to join the top servers with the coolest player made stuff.

That been said, there is an iPhone version and that's fun to toy around with when i'm bored on my commute.

It isn't THAT big, remember it's a ten dollar game that's been purchased by a million people.

The internet hype machine just makes things like it seem bigger than they actually are.

Personally minecraft was interesting for a week or so to me, because I thought I could build anything.

Then I realized I could build anything, but anything would still look like shit because of the engine, even with my fancy texture mod.

The free alpha is garbage compared to the real game. Once you add in all the new features, it's a lot more fun.

For me, the appeal is merely building stuff. It's not much more than virtual lego's. No real point, but strangely satisfying seeing what I can build with such primitive tools.

I could see that kind of appeal. It feeds well into certain mindsets and personality types, much the same way that micromanagement in 4x games feed towards a certain OCD personality. Or even the oddly satisfying nature of Katamari games, which I love.

Hmmm, since there have been some awesome looking things built in minecraft... I'm going to guess it's not because of the engine but because of your lack of talent.

Is it just me, or since spiders gained the ability to climb walls have they been spawning A LOT more often? I swear every time night comes about ten spiders are right on top of me, out numbering the other mobs 4-1.

End, it may simply be the fact that they can now climb walls, that they seem more numerous.

They could of got stuck in some random pit before, but now they can climb out of said pit, which ups the chances of finding them.

the website says "25% off during beta," so i would think that means you'll get the final version free when it's released. if not, that sucks ass.

Of course you get the full game when its released.

your not BUYING the BETA, your preordering the game. BUT you get the BETA to test it and such. (Think of it like getting Bulletstorm for the Gears 3 beta. Only this is preordering minecraft for a minecraft beta)

Additional stuff will be free for buyings of alpha (Like Moi)

You'll get the full game for free when it is released. But if Notch decides to make "Minecraft: Now In SPACE!" or whatever for an expansion pack or DLC, you'd have to pay extra unless you bought alpha.
