Jonathan Ross teases 'unexpected revivals' for 3DS event [update]

No matter where his career goes, Jonathan Ross will likely always be best known to many gamers as "the guy who spilled the beans about Fable 3." The UK TV host will be hosting a European Nintendo 3DS event on Wednesday, and may have just outed a few more tidbits.

In a Twitter back and forth (detailed by IGN) Ross told a fan hoping for a new Metroid game, "I think you're going to be pleased," before adding, "A few other faves coming as well - plus a few unexpected revivals!!" [Update: 3DS Buzz has cleared up a little confusion with a new Tweet from Ross who clarified that he wasn't referencing a new Metroid game.]

With the event so close, we'll avoid speculating, but you can bet we'd be madly refreshing Joystiq around 9 a.m. EST Wednesday (when a similar DS even is being held in the US) if ... you know, we didn't have to write it.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but unless this is another Hunters game or very early into development, I'm guessing this is just gonna be about Metroid II, Fusion or Zero Mission on Virtual Console at launch

I'm hoping for a Luigi's Mansion revival just so I can see my kid pee his pants when he sees it. It's his all time favorite game.

I hate how Nintendo can fudge up the 3DS (region locking, pricing, battery) yet still command my wallet.

I'm not into piracy but yeah, region locking will not get in the way of me playing the games I want to play.

Half my GBA, DS and PSP libraries are US or Japan imports. My original DS was from America too.

If that's true, I am not buying a 3DS.

The next game he'll do will be the next "ET: Extra Terrestrial" only he'll be told he's doing the next big blockbuster game, making him look like a fool!

I want one of two things:

Either a remake of Metroid 2. Since it's the only one in the series that isn't currently playable on Wii or DS/GBA.

Or what they should've done for Other M, a new 2D Metroid made with Chair, developers of Shadow Complex.

How about a remake of of Metroid 2 done in the style of Metroid Prime? I loved Metroid 2 but damn was that world so "bland" (ty GB) as where Prime the world was so alive and organic.

Chair is associated with Epic, so that means Nintendo does not exist as far as Chair's concerned, except to rag on as an occasional butt monkey

Hopefully details of a better online system. This plus Capcom's damage control comment give me hope

I'm almost positive he's just talking about Kid Icarus Uprising.

That image is a screenshot from the end of the next Metroid game: "Surprise! Samus is a man!"

Disappointing update :(. I was excited to see if Nintendo could make up for Other M. Well, I hope we see some new surprise.
