Given the ultra-creative nature of the game, we can't really knock the idea of having access to all of the stickers, karts, tracks, themes and other various parts on the disc (and those added by DLC, if you've already bought it). Then again, if you've already sunk $60 into the retail release and more into DLC, you'd think the least Sony could do is throw in
ModNation Racers for-pay cheat unlocks everything, coming tomorrow

The latest of what we like to call "lazy gamer" cheats -- downloadable unlocks that open up entire games, for a price -- is actually inbound from Sony for ModNation Racers. It's called the "Career Unlock All Key" and, for $3 tomorrow on the PlayStation Store, evidently does what its name suggests.
Given the ultra-creative nature of the game, we can't really knock the idea of having access to all of the stickers, karts, tracks, themes and other various parts on the disc (and those added by DLC, if you've already bought it). Then again, if you've already sunk $60 into the retail release and more into DLC, you'd think the least Sony could do is throw insome seat covers a code.

Double XP week would be nice. This game is a GRIIIIIIIIIIND! (If you're a trophy whore like me that is)

I beat and unlocked the entire career, back before the patch that added an "Eady" mode...but I always wondered, do these pay-to-unlock codes effect trophies? Do people buy these and unlock the trophies associated with getting all the items, and characters?

@mywhitenoise Good question. I would think playstation wants to keep the integrity of the trophies, but who knows. All I need for the platinum is the star creator and level 30 trophies. I'm around 150k xp and I had to take a break because 500k seems impossible, and the game already started to get repetitive.......And btw Anyone complaining about the $3......It's called, PUT THE WORK IN AND PAY NOTHING! lol.

"We can get people to pay to be able to use a code, that's already built into the game? Something that's been in almost every single game since the post-Atari systems?"
"HOLY SHIT!"
That guy is probably still smiling his way to the bank.

What happened to secret cheat codes?

@GuitarHero666 Before the interweb it would have cost $3 for the magazine with said code, so I guess it evens out = )

This is nice for people like me who can't stand the difficulty of the Career and its objectives. However, this would also take away all the sense of accomplishment when I manage to succeed at some element of said Career mode and unlock something. Seems like everything would be unlocked for me already, whether I succeed at anything or not.

This is a little bit too late for any improvements. A lot of the community has already left the game. The forum I used to be a part of (MNR Central) had to close down due to lack of activity.

I guess this is why I didn't buy the game for full retail price. When the game is $20 and the unlock code another $3, I'll pick them both up and just play the game with all the content and no stress.

Things like this are so cheap. You've already spent $60 on the game and now need to shell out an extra $3 to access the entirety of the content?
I know you're supposed to "unlock" everything, but who has time for all of that? I want to just make some tracks!

You don't have time to unlock...but you have time to make a track? Maybe you shouldn't spend $60 on a game if you don't have time to complete it.

@mywhitenoise I don't have time to unlock everything AND make tracks.
To make a better analogy...This game is like getting a box of Legos. You're excited to play with all the pieces, but then your older brother takes all the blue bricks, trees and people. In order to get them back and play with the full collection of bricks you either have to do his weekly chores or pay him $3.

I wish this game sold more than it did. If it was huge we could be looking at Modnation RPG or some other genre this year.
Sure, there's LPB2, but it's not quite the same.

Seriously though, the difference here is the unlockables allow you to be creative opposed to just owning everything. You'd unlock ALL of the extra stuff for making levels, cars, and racers. I'd say $3.00 is worth it if you're into that.
Great game hampered by awful load times.

I bought this game when it came out, but returned it due to the chore of unlocking the parts. I had fun for a bit, but I didn't care for the actual game mechanics, all I wanted to do was build cars.

In *my* day, these cheats were *free*, and you "unlocked" them by inputting a string of button combinations on a title screen.

I picked it up when it was $40, and put a decent amount of time into the game. While it sucks that they are charging $3 for this code, I don't see it as that big of a deal.
I don't have a lot of time to play games, so when I do, I want to enjoy my game. If giving them $3 can extend my enjoyment of the game, I'll give it to them.

i payed $30 plus tax ( Canadian ) for it so $3 is no issue too me .. tho i will only buy it when i go to buy another item on the PS Store so the total is over $5 anyways i think i should work on it some before i go off and buy the code.
