Rookie, you don't know how easy you've got it.
These days, it's all polygons and Dolby 13.1 surround explosions, but in my day we had to rely on real police work. We'd comb the streets looking for clues just a few pixels wide and clicking on so many dead ends that the blisters on our index fingers had blisters. We'd question the locals and have to read their answers. That's right, rook: Read. And if we got stuck in a case, there were no GameFAQs to fall back on. Hell, we didn't know what a GameFAQ was -- we called a 900 number. And we were grateful to have it.
You know what? Forget about the Schloienger case. No, you've got some homework tonight. I hear Good Old Games just added Police Quest 1-4 to its service for $10. Go home, play them all, and see if you don't come back tomorrow with just a bit more respect for your elders.
And rook ... when you tell me what you think of them, could you do it in a speech bubble? You know, for old time's sake.

Hopefully there is some sort of mod to strip out the driving sections. I remember having police quest 3 and hating driving around the bland environment trying to figure out where I was until I was so bored I ended up just driving off the road.

That´s true, the driving part was completely annoying. Guess they put too much emphasis on the real part of being a police, but forgot to delete the boring parts.
Anyway i always loved the police quest series, specially police quest III, i remember when i saw the screenshots on a pc magazine i almost fainted, i couldn´t believe those where actual screenshots. that´s one of the things that i miss from the good old days back then we where always
surprised by something, there was always something that was really impressive, i haven´t had that felling since.......wow probably since doom III maybe.........

Be warned, this does NOT include the original "In Pursuit of Death Angel", only the remake. Though, I feel that the remake is infinitely better for removing direct control driving...

Oh God was Police Quest 4 bland. I'm sorry, Darryl Gates' Police Quest 4. They should pay me $3 to play it. The best one is PQ2. I replay it once every 5 years or so and it still scares bejeebus out of me. Honestly $10 for all 4 is good times on the cheap.

I imagine that Justin was working late, and was eaten by a grue before he could mention it.

I take exception to the tagline on the GOG link, "crawl inside the mind of a serial killer." I don't know what game they played but the ones I played were about following protocol and cursing the heavens when you come up two points short of a perfect game.
Now if this were that The Cell game I've been dreaming about for years that would be a different case...

It won't be fun without the 900 page phonebook/manual were you acutally had to look stuff up.. My brother and I had some fancy boxed set of the police quest games and played it to death.

I used to love the original AGI version of the first one. Driving around my pixel car was always my favorite part.

My favourite thing about Police Quest was the F-keys for 'draw your gun' and 'shoot your gun'; specifically the fact that it actually lets you do the second one without doing the first. Awesome.
