Well, that depends, can you rip off a game that you own the rights to? I'm pretty sure you can't.

Yes you can. You can 'legally' do it, but it's still ripping off. Tri-Ace is not Square.

They're supposed to have the official versions of the rest up next week. I think they said Tuesday but don't quote me on it. Hopefully they'll all be in english as well (and give us a Dissidia 2 NA release date)

FFXIII was a weird experience. After about 10-20 hours I regretted to have pre ordered it and stopped playing for about 2 months. Then after 2-3 other tries I finally got in the game for good and was more than happy to have this wonderful title. The game was not instant fun with its new battle system and extremely linear exept for end game content, but it is enough good to pre order its sequel.

This is gonna be another great game.

@rezhoner I agree. The beginning of the game did nothing to show how great the combat system is. If you stuck it out until disc 3 the battle system was pretty satisfying. Overall I really enjoyed the game, though I can certainly recognize the criticisms. I am really looking forward to the sequel (and hearing the debate on the debate on the podcast).

@rezhoner - The instant grinding you have to do near the end of the game once you get to the open-world area (can't remember the name; it's basically the place people living in Cocoon deemed hell); the majority of the game, you could just keep truckin along, not worrying about if you have your characters to a certain level. Once you reached "hell", it certainly felt like it, with enemies taking 20 level jump increases instantly.

Sorry, but that difficulty curve was way too much for me. And no, this wasn't my first Final Fantasy game.

@Nintendo Tim

the "hell" is Gran Pulse and you aren't supposed to fight all of the enemies down there right away, you need to grind and master the Paradigm system more first. remember you can always run around the big enemies since they have a very distinct range of view and can only see you if you get within a certain distance of them.

@Nintendo Tim At no point in the game did I ever need to grind except to complete the upgrades for the achievement after I was done with everything. It sounds like you never experimented using the classes. Or you didn't do it very well. Saz's red Mage skills with Vanillas white Mage defeat any obstacle.

You gotta fight the small stuff first. anything bigger than a wolf WILL kill you at first. that's kinda the point.

@Vegna It's not any different than FFXII where you see that huge level TRex roaming about in the beginning.

Or the Midgar Zolom! It's YOUR choice to fight.

@Jack Kevorkian - I experimented to a point; I never delved head-first into the Paradigm system, but I dabbled a bit to understand what Square was doing. For more difficult enemies or bosses, I frequently used the Commando/Ravager to stagger enemies, but after a successful stagger, I would switch the party up to a Synergist/Saboteur combo to power up the party with either a Sentinel or Medic, depending on the party's health situation. Hell, I even still have a bookmark folder dedicated to various weapon guides and multiple paradigm patterns to test.

According to xbox.com, I last played the game back in April, so I feel that there's going to be a quite large relearning curve, and I feel Gran Pulse might not be the best place to do that.

@Nintendo Tim Well it sounds like you knew what you were doing honestly. Maybe like these guys said you bit off much more than you could chew? I hung around the crashed ship before I really took on anything in the big field. Then I started with wolves, moving up the food chain to the eventual blue turtles. The blue turtles took an awfully long time to "get" and then each fight took around 20 minutes.

You aren't really supposed to fight most of the enemies in Pulse until after you finish the game. Why, you ask? You can only level yourself up so much with the Crystarium still mostly locked. It isn't until after you complete the main story that you're able to fully level up. Also, you're supposed to use the buffs/debuffs oriented paradigms before you actually stagger the enemy, as when the enemy is staggered is your best shot at doing the most damage.

Finishing the main story only unlocks the last level of the Cryst.

You can still upgrade every other job up to the second last level. Getting the last level makes barely any difference.

Basically they just made the linear section at the start of the game way too long compared to every other FF game ever made... Just make the starting linear section shorter and it'll be an even better game!

@Mixer23 - Well, I would necessarily start off hammering away with my Commando/Ravager at the start of a difficult battle, but I would have my Saboteur/Synergists at the helm to throw out (de)buffs left and right, /then/ I would throw it over and start dishing out damage.

From what I remember, the leveling system would only let you get so far, and story progression would advance your character further. Then again, like I said earlier, I haven't played the game in nearly a year.

@Jack Kevorkian - It has to be. I would wander out into Pulse at first, see some Behemoths walking around with the huge wolves (Fang?) and would immediately become overwhelmed, thinking that this is the obligatory part of the game where I just bend over and grab my ankles.

I'm on a couple different games right now (Vanquish and Crackdown 2) with Dead Space 2 coming out Tuesday. When I get the time, I'll bring the game back out and give Pulse another whirl.

Hopefully they keep the battle system. Just make it more open world like old ff's and I'm happy. I didn't think FF13 was as bad as people say, but it is definitely lacking because of the linear nature of the game.

@Soc Kind of a sidetrack. I felt FF 12 had the coolest costume design in the series. The armor design was both badass and practical.

And before anyone mentions it. I've strategically forgotten Vaan's outfit by holding my breath and banging my head on a coffee table for several hours.

I personally agree. 5/6 or the party's costumes in that game were pretty good, as were all of the costumes for the villains.

Unfortunately I have to look forward to Vaan's ugly self again in Dissidia 012. at least I can beat him up in that one, though.

If Vaan wasn't in that game entirely...I really think people would have liked XII so much more :(.

...the same way I feel if Hope wasn't in XIII, I wouldn't hate the game anymore...I'd just be slightly annoyed with it.

@EvoHelix I actually disliked most of 12's costume design. It was the height of the belt and zipper era costumes, lots of random details that really served no purpose.
