@Faenix

For right now, you need a controller. Give it time. One breakthrough at a time

@Hunter141072 Seeing as it would still be much easier to play well with a controller, I'm not sure I see this as a 'useful' alternative. More of a novel one. It doesn't look particularly fun to me, either. It's great that people are exploring what the Kinect can be used for, though, as it will help discover the system's real strengths and usefulness.

true but remember that at the beginning of all this mods they were nothing but small things, right now this stuff is getting better and better first it was a hand puppet, but now it´s an almost full controller. That is keeping the development going. and with few months of difference since the small mods, just as i said this kinect is getting better and better.....for the p.c. community, how funny.....

What impressed me was the lack of notible lag.

Actually, lag is there. It's amazing how fast we get used to lag and adjust our gaming style based on it. 1-to-1 tracking is sorta pointless and marketing gimmick. Even Sony Move has a lag.

Neat...but he'll never come close to winning a tourney with that controller. Dude needs a fightstick.

@acefondu that's scrubtalk. Snake Eyes took EVO 2010 with a pad. fightsticks don't make you good nor do you need one to do well.

@volatilesigma

But we both know the Kinect would never be a competitive tool for a fighting game.

And yeah, Snake Eyes is a beast he just won West Coast Warzone in SFIIHDR just last weekend. Never the less pad wins are VERY rare and so far none have been seen in SFIV. Closest they got was Inthul and he just got lucky, we haven't seen him much since.

Vangief also plays pad SFIV and dropped JWong at EVO last year. Admittedly pad players are rare. There is also a great video of Vesperarcade completing trial challenges with pads (PS3 and 360):

No Kinect trials... yet!

Hilariously both VanGief and Snake Eyes are Gief players. Perhaps the pad is useful for 360 characters in general? To each his own as they say, but I can't imagine the Kinect would ever be the controller of choice for these games.

On the contrary, I predict that by EVO 2013 the Kinect will be the controller of choice and that TE's and HRAP's will be on eBay for $30 a pop. Not that it will matter, because everyone will have traded in their copy of SSFIV for Clayfighter 2012 on the GBA.

I believe lag is more of an issue when Kinect is used for full body tracking. Hacks I have seen that only use certain body parts or just limited Kinect tracking do not seem to have any lag.

I wonder if that's it.. Are there legitimate Xbox360 Kinect games that have as little lag as this one? The demos I tried (in stores, not necessarily the ideal place; then again, it should be the pulling out all the stops to make me want to buy it) all had amazingly bad lag.

You can't say Kinect doesn't have the potential for hardcore gaming use, but I can still say I don't want to play like that
