PS3 Dead Space Extraction explained on video
39
If our preview of the PS3 version of Dead Space Extraction was too stationary for you, PlayStation Blog has posted a new video interview with producer Zach Mumbach. The interview briefly touches on the improved visuals, which Mumbach notes are now "full HD." It also explains the new Move controls, which obviate the need for the Wii version's Nunchuk, leaving your other hand free to recoil in terror. Head over to PlayStation Blog to see it for yourself.

Didn't really like Extraction on the Wii.
Can't really use that to persuade me to the PS3 version.

That's an excellent question. On Medal of Honor, the Medal of Honor Frontlines was on disc, you basically need to download from the disc to your PS3, but even though the game was installed on your hard drive, you still needed the disc on the PS3 to play.
On Mass Effect 2 you need to download the Cerberus Network from the PS Store, that wasn't included on the disc.
All these games are from EA, including Dead Space 2. My guess will be like Medal of Honor did with Frontlines, you download from the disc, but still need the disc to play.
One thing worth mention is that, Frontline is not for sale over the PSN, but the Cerberus Network is. Maybe that's why we downloaded the Cerberus Network from the Store and Frontline from the disc. With that in mind, my question is, will Dead Space Extraction will be up for sale on PSN store or will be just a limited offer like Frontline was/is?

I really wish that Microsoft would get the Kinect-Controller thing here soon. I would love to play this on my xbox ...

Yeah, I hope Microsoft actually listens to us on how we need a controller to work along with the Kinect for some games. I know they want to keep their marketing terminology of "you are the controller" ... but that only works with some games.
The Kinect is a lot better than I thought it would be, but it's still not good enough for detailed movements. Kinect 2 would probably be a lot better, but for now ... we need a controller that the Kinect can detect for FPS games.

Thrilled this comes free with the first shipment. Can't wait to have a true hardcore Move game to play with...

@Fallow This may have been a hardcore game when it was on the Wii, but I am not sure I'd call a rail shooter a hardcore game on the PS3...it's a very fun game and probably more difficult than the average rail shooter, but still...

Man, I can't wait for Killzone 3 to drop next month. That's going to the true definitive first core game experience that utilizes Move for me.

This and a No More Heroes remake are coming to the PSMove. Now they need to port the rest of the previously exclusive third party Wii hits over to the PS3 - all 4 of them!

Aaaaand I read in GI that the creator of No More Heroes Paradise (I'm pretty sure that's the final name) is intending for it to be played with a Move. As an early adopter, that makes me excited.

Played this on Wii, so no real interest to play it again if it has nothing other than HD added. Saying that, it's a superb game and is great when friends are over, I also hope they implement online co-op, that would be superb.
I am keen to see what it looks like in HD, but only because I'm getting DS2, not particularly interested in buying this seperately.

And yet you see some console gamers who retort against the PC's technical superiority by saying "gameplay >>>>> graphics!!!" and then they salivate when Wii ports come to the PS3 like this game and No More Heroes. : /

The diference between modern console and PC isnt that vast, and when you factor in the ease for most people playing their game on a 60" flat screen with a console as opposed to a PC then the difference between a modern console and a non HD Wii is quite different.

You fail to grasp the most obvious point. For a lot of consoles gamers they simply don't want to game on their PCs. Maybe their PCs are in an office or on a corner desk somewhere and they simple prefer to game from their couch or whatever. Plus you have the whole plug-n-play factor. So for many gamers the choice between console or PC is a question of environment. After they make that the decision then the other factors come into play. Really, this is the most fundamentally obvious difference.... your point is meaningless for the majority of gamers out there.

Can't wait to play Extraction with the Move, it will be so cool. And yes it's two games for the price of one that's why the PS3 is superior to the xbox in every way.
