I unplug mine when I go to bed. Especially after I heard the motor that moves it go off in the middle of the night and wake me up.

Kinect is listening. Can't believe the number of people not realizing that the mic is on by default.

That's just insane...

How does one come up with a plan like this and execute it with such awesome results? His brilliance and awesomeness makes me feel like a dumbass.

@MystileArmor Some poeple in this world are just great at thinking outside the box while others (such as I) cower in that box clawing and screaming that the walls are closing in. ;)

Only if you point Kinect at a mirror and it maps itself and becomes self-aware.

Actually the Google car has like a dozen cameras on it, so it's already batter than Kinect, though understandably it costs like 1000x more.

@PN04

Define "better". Last I checked, google streetview didn't, and couldn't, model a street in 3D in this way.

@bm111

Bing maps stores 3D data for its version of streetview, they use it do trippy transitions.

Eleven years ago, when the Tony Hawk games were good, I would sit on the bus home from school and look out the window at all the familiar places.

"Wouldn't it be cool," I thought, "If in the future I could skateboard through these areas in a virtually-created Earth?"

Now it might happen.

I also realize I could have just learned to skateboard but that requires actual effort. Plus I'd get hurt a lot.

i have a neighbor with a nissan skyline who's a total douche, i'd virtually steal his car and wreck it in a heartbeat.

Come on, it's not the car's fault that a douche payed money for it. I would say, virtually steal it and sell it to somebody who loves the car.

I think we've all dreamed of our cities being featured in open world games. With a bit of collaboration, citizens could put these together themselves not far from now

Hope someone at MS is watching this, because this is actually something that would give Bing maps a leg up over Google maps.

It's always been one of my dreams to create a 3D environment of my city, for use in a videogame. But sadly I have neither the time or the talent (especially the talent) to do such a thing. The closest I ever got was the custom map editor in Far Cry 2. I made a pretty decent re-creation of a few blocks of my neighborhood, if it were in Africa.

It would be awesome to have a fully designed custom map editor with the engine of something like GTA IV.
