11 PSN games discounted by 50% tomorrow

Tomorrow's PSN update will be notable for what it adds to the PlayStation Store, though you may be a little fonder of what it's set to remove: fifty percent from the price of 11 games in an "11 for 2011" sale.

Among the discounted games are Double's Fine enchanting Costume Quest for $7.49, hypnotic brick breaker Shatter for $3.99 (its excellent soundtrack is also discounted to $2.99), and Hoard for $7.49 -- a fitting saving for a dragon looking to amass a boast-worthy pile of presents and a roast-worthy mass of peasants. Sony has also included other well-received games like Swords and Soldiers, Tumble and Space Invaders Infinity Gene in the sale (valid in the US, Canada and Mexico through January 31).

@PR0F3TA - I believe Peggle Nights is separate DLC from what I've seen in the PSN store (I can't confirm since I bought the game and expansion on the 360... And iPod Touch... And Mac... Damn you Pop Cap).

Haha, me too (XBLA, 360 w/PlantsVsZombies, iPod Classic, iPhone.) The only one I think that came with Nights was the DS version (which I also bought)

You just made me realize that I own Bejewelled on my PC, iPhone, and 360. I own Plants vs. Zombies on my PC, and iPhone, and I own Peggle on my DS, iPhone, and 360. Son of a...

I'm tempted to pick up either Shatter or Soldner-X2. Depends on what demos I like.

Also, anyone who hasn't got Space Invaders Infinity Gene yet, BUY IT NOW. You will not regret it. Probably my favorite downloadable game of last year, maybe second to Pac-Man CE DX. So worth it.

@Razer922 I can recommend Shatter, it's a fantastic game. It's a brick shooter thingy, but the mechanics makes it interesting. Also, the soundtrack is fantastic.

Ugh, Soldner X was one of the worse wastes of money I've ever purchased. it looks nice and has interesting music but it has some of the cheapest deaths and worst collision detection ever.

yeahhh... but the graphics and music make the game worth playing through. And it's not god awful once you get good at it. I admit it has cheap deaths, and it has a bad case of gradius syndrome, but as long as you keep your chains up, it's not too tough. I still haven't finished it (refuse to play on normal), but I've gotten damn close.

Shatter all the way. Great game play and fantastic music. As Digital Viking noted, it's in the Breakout genre, but a modern take with some nice twists to the mechanics and boss fights. It's a steal at $3.99.

Im telling you all this now, to save you the time.

Get Shatter for 4 bucks. You will not regret.

@Cavall Shatter is awesome, games like these are the reason PSN+ is worth the cost. I get to play these hidden gems that would have never played which would have been a shame.

I disagree. It's a great game, especially if you get to play in co-op. Plus it's a pretty long game for a downloadable title.

Comet Crash is pretty cool if you like that kind of strategy game (tower offense, you could call it). Definitely worth a look.

I would die for a Costume Quest-like adventure game, I mean, without the turn based combat.

Got Shatter during Steam's holiday sales for like $2, but 4 is still worth it, it's a great variation of Breakout/Arkanoid.

I wish Dead Nation was on this list.

I'm gonna nab Thongs of Virtue and Hoard. I loved the first Death Spank, and Hoard has gotten great reviews.

I'd be tempted to get Swords & Soldiers, but I was really turned off by the demo.

But get Costume Quest guys. Especially if there are ladies or kids in the house, they'll get into it. The turn based combat is kinda meh, the biggest crime though is that it's not multiplayer.

Damn, that's the best sale I've seen so far. I'll be getting Shatter, Tumble and Soldner X 2.

Is Deathspank good for local co-op, btw?

I wouldn't recommend DeathSpank co-op unless the person you play it with doesn't normally play games. It's not bad, but it is anything but fully featured. It feels more limited than Fable II in terms of what player two isn't allowed to do.

@Epoque That doesn't sound very tempting at all. Think I'll pass on Deathspank and rather wait till there's a discount on Dead Nation or Lara Croft. Thanks!

Probably a good call. Lara Croft is a fantastic local co-op game. Personally, I think Deathspank is overrated.... co-op or not.

I'm heavily interested in PixelJunk Monsters. Anybody know if there is some kind of discounted bundle for PixelJunk Monster + Encore?

I'll probably get Costume Quest and Deathspank Thongs of Virtue. Been wanting to get both but $7 each is a great deal over spending $14.99 for each at the normal price. i wish more titles were discounted though as i own most of them like Comet Crash and Shatter.

No one has mentioned Space Invaders. Excellent game. Especially if you likewhat they've done with games such as PacMan Championship, etc.

That sucks for you then. Why are you bragging about ignoring awesome games because they're downloadable? The fact that you haven't played Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim, Braid, Trine, Trash Panic, Geometry Wars, N+, Shadow Complex, Trials HD, or Limbo and are proud of that fact is ludicrous to me. Shame on you if you call yourself a gamer and openly shunning games just because of the delivery method.

@kgoo867 While I agree with you on Braid being horribly overrated you are wwrong on Rez...the most important thing on xbla. And Toy Soldiers.

@kgoo867 I am in high disagreement with everything you've said, save for implying that Pac-Man CE DX is one of the best values on XBLA and PSN. If all you care about is having more bang for your buck, you're doing yourself a great disservice by not also having Geometry Wars 2.

Costume Quest is somewhere in the ballpark of 4 hours. What it lacks in length, it makes up for in charm though (However, I do think this is the price it should've been in the first place).
