By that logic, Blizzard should've come down on Crimecraft and Spycraft a hell of a long time ago.

@darkinchworm Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot Minecraft. I haven't tried it yet, but given that Joystiq - I love you guys by the way - have about thirteen posts per page on it...

They don't need to. There's little chance people will confuse Starcraft or Warcraft with any other franchise. Even though its a drop in the bucket for Blizzard to spend money on litigation, it might not be worth the time.

I'd say there's as large a chance of people confusing "Minecraft" with "Warcraft" as there is a chance of people confusing "Farmville" with "Blingville."

I guess you could say, "Its on like Donkey Kong."

It will go nowhere. They cannot do anything about the "ville" trademark. They have done this before in the past and it never pans out.

Didn't Zynga rip off the concept of Farmville from some other lesser known game too?

@Richard Jae: Zynga's FarmVille is a direct rip-off of a game called Farm Town. Not only was the name smiliar but the gameplay and even art style.

Zynga does not have a creative bone in the whole company.

Farmville is a clone of Farm Town. Or it was when it started anyway.

So.... will the creators of all the games that Zynga ripped off start sending cease-and-desist letters to them?

Seriously, they're an evil company that makes crappy rip-off products and they need to be put out of business and the founder jailed.

I am making a new Facebook game called Jerkville where each player gets to be a producer at a fictional company called Zoinga. Players will each get a floor on this company to strategically place cubicals, fax machines and a lawyers office. They will partake in stealing other companies ideas, threaten to sue others, and partake in a wonderful micromanaging system where they can raise and lower prices for their virtual virtual cash shop.

It will be a long, pointless game in which I shall gouge customers playing the game their hard earned real life money by selling them even more pointless virtual items. The game "Jerkville- A Fool and His Money are Soon Parted" will be the hit of the internets.
