King's Quest 3 fan remake announced, The Silver Lining episode 3 delayed

Two separate, but oddly parallel, developments in the world of King's Quest fan games were announced this week, in what must be the biggest week for King's Quest news in years.

First, Phoenix Online announced a delay for the third episode of the officially Activision-blessed fan series, The Silver Lining, from January 29 to early February. In the announcement, the developer claimed that the episode, which is "more than twice the size of Episode 2," and which necessitated the hiring of 20 additional animators, needed extra polish.

In other "third King's Quest game" news, AGD Interactive announced a fan remake of King's Quest 3: To Heir is Human, which it says it has been "covertly developing" over eight years. The planned release date? February!

if there any kind of remakes i do love its fan made ones... my fave being Mega Man 2.5D. It sucks most of them never really get finished or get a cease and desist before they get done.

btw i'm not even getting exited for Black Mesa Source anymore, Valve is gonna update the engine before it even gets done

Yeah, Black Mesa Source was supposed to be out over a year ago. I know these hobbyist-devs don't "owe" anyone anything, they need to realize that there's only so much patience and good will their fans will give them.

Great news; and while this is the bit of news that makes my day/week, a remake of KQIV would have made my month.

Infamous Adventures did a pretty faithful remake of KQ3 a few years back that is well-worth the playthrough and kind of fills that re-make void that was missing.

Still, AGDI's KQ3 version will be a day one download and playthrough, given the exceptional job they've done on QFG2 (and KQ1/2 for that matter).

Joystiq, any potential sleuthing that you all can do about Quest for Glory re-releases/re-makes? I seem to recall a fairly recent article that Vivendi had potential plans for new games in the series (maybe console?).... but a collector's edition similar to their KQ/PQ/SQ/LSL releases is anxiously awaited.
