Now imagine if they surprised everyone and said this was somehow KH3, totally restyled.

If that happens, then I'll be disappointed.

Now, I'm sure people are wondering "Why, RageOverdose, would that possibly disappoint you?" Well fine sirs/ladies, I will share with you my reasoning.

If this somehow was Kingdom Hearts 3 restyled, then I would now only have one amazing game to play, instead of 2. I think we can agree that 2 is better than 1 in this case.

Now, with this trailer release and the fact I've been playing Dead Space 2, I must go buy out the nearest store's entire stock of pants, because I can't seem to keep them from being overly soiled with the amount of awesome I've experienced for 3 days.

Yeah, I would be pretty ticked if this was KH3 but the similarities are crazy(from the battle system anyway). Hopefully this willl turn out well to tide everyone over for a console Kingdom Hearts.

Squeenix jointly owns the Kingdom Hearts franchise with Disney. They probably can't make a KH game without Disney characters.

This is definitely NOT some new version of KH. It IS definitely a Final Fantasy game with a battle system heavy based off KH, or my dream game.

I loved every original(basically FF themed) thing in KH, I disliked every Disney aspect but still LOVED that game. I always wished they would make a pure FF game with that battle system. Basically the KH battle system IMO is the best way to make an action/RPG. KH is the ONLY action/RPG that plays better than most pure action games. It's my ideal game system. My honest to god dream game just got announced, this makes me very happy.

Weapons in games are usually defined by how they sound, so I definitely agree. The better it sounds, the more likely someone is to use it, at least from my experience. When I watched this I could barely tell they were even hitting at all.

The enemies need to react better as well. This is something I've noticed with almost every Japanese game not made by Platinum, Yakuza team, or From Software. It feels like you're just subtracting numbers from your opponent

Somewhat unlrelated but....

Please remake...
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 7
and Chrono Trigger

Is it just me or has Square-Enix really lost their step. I recently completed the mass effect games and I can't remember the last JRPG that had gameplay/story/characters that I truly enjoyed....unless I go all the way back to the PS1/SNES days...

In fact Square-Enix hasn't been good since they were Squaresoft.

Nomura seems like the only competent person left at square. sure, FFv13 is taking forever, but comeon, they had to build a PS3 engine from scratch and it was probably not his decision to announce it that early. also, the kingdom hearts games are great, and even the worst ones are better than a lot of other square games

@Timjoy For me, FF VI and Chrono Trigger are perfect and require no remaking, unless one of those is a VC version of FF VI with the extra stuff and retranslation from the GBA version. FF VII on the other hand is ugly, poorly translated, and could use some tuning up in terms of battle mechanics, and maybe the addition of the materia junctioning system (or whatever it was called) from Crisis Core.

not sure why you got downvoted because everything you just said is the truth. how could i take a character with hair like that seriously? i know it's the fashion right now (or something), but who could possibly want to play as a pansy ass that looks like a girl? those that do...well, shit. i guess you would have to be a diehard fan of final fantasy, in which case looking like that probably isn't considered very odd or out of place at all...

It's not that it's "emo", It's the "bad boy Japanese" look. It's to extenuate the fact he's probably a cool guy with a cool personality. Reading tons of manga can lead you to understand it better.

Squenix should just steal Resonance of Fate's battle system, which was far more exciting than any FF battle system ever conceived, imo...

@Pure Black World Tendency Idk, the battle system in FF XIII was one of the few great parts about that game.

Personally I'm still a fan of FF XII's system because it allowed you to managed your allies, which meant that the AIs in the game couldn't find some way of screwing you over by having your allies not do something they were supposed to.

Funny thing is, that's almost the exact same system as is in DA: Origins and people whined their butts off about it... yet I've never heard one person fault FF XII for that. I honestly think FF XII is one of the best in the series. It made the best use of the PS2 hardware of any game to date, still remember the cutscene introduction of the Sand Sea area when Vaan picks up the sand and it flows through his fingers, blew me away.

No character was overbearingly annoying as the series is renowned for falling victim to, the battle system was friendly to every type of player from the turbo nerd that wants to control every aspect to the casual player who doesn't want to worry about what they need to do in order to blast through the main quest. Plus it brought back airships as central figures in the series.

The hunting system was one of the best side questlines I've ever seen, and they managed to give you enough to do to keep you playing, between hunting down beasts, legendary items, and re-exploring dungeons towns etc. It was big and open and there was a wide variety of enemy types.

It's only fault was being released after the PS3 and XBox 360 were looming on the horizon. If it had been released on current gen consoles instead of last gen consoles it would likely be regarded as one of the best.

OMG This looks so much better than XIII, they should just stop working on XIII-2 and focus on Versus for now.... besides kinda soon for a sequal anyway. I have a feeling this may become the best Final Fantasy game to date.

@emperorzeroxx

You do realize that XIII-2, unless it re-embraces the standard FF towns system and shelves the linearity of the first part of the original game for open world travel areas like in FF XII, is going to be exactly like X-2, right? I.E. a shameless piece of Fan Service that recycles elements of the first game while doing nothing to fix problems with it's overall implementation or mechanics.

FFX-2 was FFX with different character models, an altered storyline, and the addition of a limited number of guns. Aside from that EVERYTHING about the games was exactly the same. Layouts, chest locations, puzzle solutions, enemies, etc. I don't see them doing anything different here. Hell, Lightning's outfit in the trailer screams Fan Service.

Half of Square's developers are rooted to the linear standards of JRPG history and unless they pull some amazing turn around FFXIII-2 will receive the same, or worse, reception than the game that spawned it.

@oJMan240o There are so many things wrong about this post, let's just focus on one, specifically a direct statement from Square Enix that says 13-2 is not going to be anything like X-2.

But hey, I'm sure you know far more than I about a game neither of us will see for another ten months.

@oJMan240o FF X-2 was barely the same game as FF X in terms of how the game actually played. The battle system went back to ATB while FF X deviated from the rest of the series by using the list that was in Tactics. The dress-sphere system was nothing like the sphere grid and brought back the job system of FF V (which is awesome). The story progression wasn't linear like FF X and instead X-2 was more like a chain of sidequests that occasionally unlocked a plot point. There are plenty of reasons to hate FF X-2; you don't have to invent any.

Also, why does everyone want towns back? Yay, just what I want to do: spend an hour running around talking to NPCs with worthless dialog and going to the same shops that were in the last town so I can upgrade my gear from iron to mythril because, for whatever reason, the last town didn't have that crap. Weeeeee!
