Still need more proof that LittleBigPlanet 2 is every game ever? Creator curator Bluetonberry has a new level which might just win you over: It's a stunningly accurate recreation of the first dungeon from the NES Legend of Zelda. Check out a video (and an LBP.me link!) after the jump!

I actually played this a couple days ago. It's a blast. Not a lot of people stay and watch in the observation chairs though lol

Won't this kind of stuff get yanked by Sony? I remember in LBP1 that people were making tribute stages and Sony or whoever deleted those stages as quickly as possible.
That's actually the reason I sold LBP cause I was excited to make these tribute stages, but not if they were going to delete them without warning.

Wow, that looks cool.
I wonder how long until this gets shut down by Nintendo.

There is no 2D game LBP2 can't recreate. Incredible.

Holy copyright infringement batman! ;-)
Clearly this guy put some good work into this, but I guess i'm not all that impressed. The sprites are just rips from the original game, and the game play mechanics for Zelda aren't exactly that complex. As long as the creator is having fun making it, good for him, but I've seen more impressive stuff out there (such as the difference engine running in Minecraft)

@JCat I've got nothing against LBP2, I just don't think this mod is particular impressive compared to other mods I've seen for LBP and elsewhere. The Wolfenstein mod impressed me because of the ingenuity it took. A top down viewed game re-using nintendo sprites with a very basic game mechanic is not relatively that hard. Dissapointing to see that not drooling over this video is enough to get voted down though. Like I said, kudos for whoever did this for doing it well, but its not something that I really see as getting overly excited about.

If you're going to be unimpressed, you have to be unimpressed all the way. I'm unimpressed by both the Zelda AND Wolfenstein LBP2 levels because ... (drumroll) ... they're not as fun as the originals. The Zelda one's graphics are disjointed, and the combat is a little weird (and no flying swords when at full health!)...and Wolfenstein is just a gigantic eyesore.
I do not doubt the effort that went into creating these things, I just hope it was educational (and I'd wager it was), because otherwise it was a whole lot of work to make an inferior version of a very old game.

The thing is, you don't get to see just how much work it is to make that. This really is on par of the wolfenstein 3d level.
Imagine if there was a level editor for mario 3, and remaking zelda in it. I've tried making a top down hack and slash game w/ lbp2, and just getting the movement right is a task unto itself.... and that's the easy part.

Played it last night, and I was astonished by the level of detail. Only thing that took some getting used to was that there was no knock back when you or the enemy got hurt. But the inventory and map blew my mind out the side of head.

This is a response to TraceurRyuk:
It depends on what you classify as 2D games. Do you mean it can make any retro 2D games? Or 2D games in general? If you mean retro games, then yes I agree. If you mean ANY 2D game, I have to disagree.
Looking at both the PSN and XBLA catalogs, there are many games that simply couldn't be recreated with the same amount of design and polish in LBP2.
*braces for down votes even though my argument is legitimate*

Ok, yeah. Retro, I mean, obviously it can't recreate Kirby's Epic Yarn. But you get what I mean.

@TraceurRyuk Prepping for LBP2 I totally get your point. I just get on the offensive when people say LBP2 can make ANYTHING. I am still interested in what people can come up with; as there are many concepts which need exploring in a simple 2D space. VVVVVV proved that.

So... looking at this, can anyone tell me what the point of LBP is anymore, when you might as well just grab the Unity engine or something similar and be free of all limits altogether?

I'm on the same boat.
I thought the charm of the level creation in the first game was your ability to see behind the curtain. Levels all had a Rube Goldberg beauty to them.
I think this is an amazing achievement, but it's to the point where I would just rather play Zelda on my NES.

From my understanding, it's only copyright infringement when you use the same exact material from the original product for your own profit. Which, in this case, this user created this out of scratch and he's not making any profit out of this. So, I don't really see any problem with this...

My only real complaint with LBP is that It takes a huge amount of time to create any sort of decent level. I just don't have the patience for it.

People love to talk up Minecraft, and how awesome it is and how creative you can be in it. Honestly, the creativity present in LBP with things like this impresses me a lot more, as does what you can do with StarCraft.

I have been trying to get a hold of a copy of that game for freaking years (without paying a silly amount of money).
And I never expected to see if referenced in a Joystiq comment to be honest.

I wish I knew the addictive ingredient Nintendo puts in their franchises. I have two systems hooked up right now through which I can play Legend of Zelda, and yet I am excited to try this out.

Dear Joystiq,
PLEASE do something like an LBP2 level of the week or something like that. It's so easy to do with LBP.me now that you all could give exposure to many levels that you feel are worthy! I just now added this to my queue and I'm definitely going to be playing this once I get home.
