More Sega Genesis classics added to Steam

Are you just a few marks short of achieving your dream of being able to play Gunstar Heroes on every gaming platform known to mankind? You can go ahead and check "PC" off your list -- the game, alongside other classics like Alien Soldier, Landstalker, Light Crusader, Shining Force, Shining Force II, Shining in the Darkness, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2, ToeJam and Earl, ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair have all arrived on Steam as part of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Collection 4.

You can grab each of these gems (well, some of them are gems, anyways) for $2.99 a pop. You could also grab a bundle featuring 10 of the games above for $7.50 -- though this collection is missing both ToeJam and Earl games, so like, what's the point?

I would bet that about 70 - 80% of people who would 'freak out' over comments like that have downloaded ROMS at some point in time

I'm guessing that 70-80% of everyone freaking out over Geohot and the PS3 have CFW on their PSP and/or jailbroken their iPhone or Wii.

I've said it before but I'll say it again - Gunstar Heroes SO needs to be given the HD-remix treatment, or given a sequel, or "remastered" PUR-Leeease Treasure, it would be awesome, you know you want to

Also, I wish the bundle included the sonic games. Damn them for being smart and making me want to pay $3 for games I already have! :(

That's not exactly a "sequel"... It remembers more a remake, with a little of spin-off...
I actually agree that the original one (genesis) need a sequel in a HD graphics, since it was a real treat to Contra.

Also Green was one character to be the most badass in the game... you fight him with his Seven Force, wins, and he shows up before the final boss with "gunstar" techniques, and man... tell me if you didnt thought "son of a..." when he stops your bullets with one hand...

Wait ... so TJ&E wins the "what should be our next XBLA game?" poll and they don't ever release it due to licensing concerns, but they have no problems sticking it on Steam?

God, it warms my heart to see that Gunstar Heroes still gets attention so many years after it came out. It deserves to be so better well known than it is.

ToeJam and Earl!!!! And 2! these games need to be on every platform known to man. Screw the rest. Well, the Shining Forces can come too. And alaska and hawaii.

Um, for some reason, despite what the Steam news post says, the collection does NOT actually include either TJ&E.

I had seen the pack earlier on Steam itself, then I saw this and thought I must have missed TJ&E! How could it be! Because it isn't there, that's how.

The games ARE available for individual purchase, however.

@Rallion That was kind of incoherent, what I was really going for was, "I was excited because I thought the TJ&E's were included in the bundle, and then I was really, really sad when they weren't." I need to learn to keep things short, or I get confused.

Had to say something... Streets of Rage 1 and 2 are enough reasons to own that pack... Gunstar Heroes turns him in a "must buy"

Alien Soldier, Landstalker and Gunstar Heroes were enough for me to drop £5.50 on the bundle. So annoyed that TJ+E and its sequel are £3.99 each though.

How much are people in the US paying for the 'premium' games such as the aforementioned funky aliens and the Sonic games? $6.36 seems steep.

I want Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but I dunno. Every port of that game that I've played removes the save menu. Like the Xbox 360 version. You could only use savestates so if you wanted to start a new game with data from your old ones (like having all of the Chaos Emeralds)...you couldn't.

I was going to just buy Gunstar Heroes, but decided to get the bundle for a few bucks more. Steam's pretty good about getting me to buy bundles of games I am unlikely to have time to play :)

I'd love to buy some of those games individually, since the packs contain a lot of games I HATE. A little too pricey for me. 99p a normal game, £1.50 for the big ones and they have a deal.
