New Kirby Wii game coming from HAL Laboratory

There's a new Kirby game coming to the Wii. And this time, it's far more epic than yarn. Tucked inside Nintendo's quarterly report is mention of a new Kirby sequel, developed by series originator HAL Laboratory.

As you'll see in the video teaser (after the break), the pink mascot appears much more powerful than ever before. Not only is he seem toting a giant sword, he also summons a fire dragon, sucks in an entire group of enemies, and shoots out a massive death star. "Warm and fuzzy" this is not.

To cleave your enemies with a sword ten times your size, sear them with a dragon flame, and slide through them on a sheet of ice all while maintaining enough joy and cheeriness to nonchalantly create a rainbow right after is obscenely hardcore. to me anyways

Wii just had a Kirby, so this may be on 3DS, but if it is on the Wii, that's great, because I wasn't feeling Epic Yarn

@AngelWingedBrawler Yeah, I know what you mean. Epic Yarn was a fun game, but it was NOT a Kirby game by any means.

Now THIS looks like the Kirby game I wanted. Not to say Epic Yarn was bad ,but it didn't feel like Kirby to me.

Exactly what I was thinking. Just from seeing 30 seconds, you know that this IS Kirby.

I actually haven't played yarn yet, and I do intend to, but the fact that you don't die kinda "turned me off". I got Yoshi's island 2 and I have a hard time getting past the slowness and ease of the game. I know epic yarn won't get cheaper (damn nintendo!), but I'll wait anyways.

I want a remake of Kirby 64 with new powers and levels and enemies. It was so awesome combining elements to have different effects.

Probably because it wasn't originally a Kirby game, and that's why there's a second one coming so soon, they have been working on it for a while now for sure.

I wonder where the new DS kirby went to lol, maybe they sent it to 3DS? or is it already out, haven't heard anything about it lately.

Epic Yarn's a GREAT game, but it's not a KIRBY game. The same way Star Fox Adventures was a GREAT game, but it wasn't a STAR FOX game.

Epic Yarn is pretty hard imo. Not completing it, obviously that's easy, but getting 100%. (I haven't finished it yet, into the high 99% range though...)

If you really insist on replaying things over and over to the point of tedium because you stepped a couple millimetres away from perfect, then don't worry, you're covered. Not in the main game, but in some of the harder challenge levels (there's about six types, like 'collect X beads within 30 seconds' type stuff).

I thought Epic Yarn actually fit within Kirby quite well.....although it felt more like a Yoshi's Island game (which Good Feel needs to make next). The teaser looks amazing, but I almost wonder if HAL went in the opposite direction self-consciously.

Nothing against Epic Yarn, but this is more in line with what I expected. By far my favorite Nintendo franchise. Welcome back buddy :).

Nice. Epic Yarn was down right brilliant thou, even if it didn't feel exactly like Kirby.

@A Sandwich Yes. The only Nintendo IP Retro needs to reboot next is StarTropics. Kirby in HAL's hands is a godsend.

Hmm... not "bad", per se, but maybe... um... nah, I got nuttin'.

I would like to see Retro take a stab, as their character motion always seems more fluid to me, in some way, but I also want to see if HAL can bust out some of the old magic.
