Is it odd that I have no need for a typing tutor, but for some reason I still want this, just because it's odd and there might be uses for it in other hacks and such?

@Drakkenfyre

This raises a question:

Does 3DS have bluetooth built in?

@Co

Instead, the typing tutor title will ship with a Bluetooth keyboard that connects to the DS through the Bluetooth-equipped game cartridge.

@Magetf

I should have clarified.

This is a DS title that is using a Bluetooth enable cartridge to achieve this. So it got me thinking: what's the work around for 3DS is Bluetooth functionality comes up? Is it built in to the system, or will a cartridge based set be required as well?

@Co From what I've read, it does not. This would be a handy wii keyboard however.

Still I might get one just for the mini keyboard. A small bluetooth keyboard in the Apple style? Count me in.

You could just get an Apple bluetooth keyboard for what this will cost, or any of the MANY knockoffs for less.

Yea true. The Apple keyboard is brilliant and well worth its cost (I have the wired one). It all depends on the price of this thing.

The Apple keyboard is useless on Windows. Many shortcuts, such as PrintScreen, don't even work.

@Diodax I actually didn't remember this Pokemon typing game at all, so I clicked the link in the article which was about the announcement of it and was reminded that there was also a Kibry game for the DS announced.
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/kirby-pokemon-typing-on-the-way-to-regular-old-ds/

I was wondering what happened to it, especially in light of that recent Kirby announcement.

Can you use it with the Wii?

Or better yet, wouldn't a game with a keyboard accessory make more sense on the Wii instead? It's not like you're expecting a lot of portability with that thing.

If this works for my Mac or PC, or even my PS3, then this will be pretty useful.

A combination of Pokemon, typing games, and a bluetooth keyboard. If this reaches the US, I'm so there.

Bluetooth-enable cart? Hahah, take that pirates.

I wonder why don't they do stuff like this with games people may actually want to play.

@The Joy of Cooking DeMat

They did it with the pokewalker, and the Pokemon B/W carts also use infrared for some features.

The Game Boy Color games did, the original Pokemon games predated the Game Boy Color and the IR feature.

The IR port was used VERY rarely, Only a few games used it, and usually only for transferring data. It was easy to mess up.

SS and HG are both playable without Pokéwalker, both pirated.
B&W were both apparently very tough, but they were both cracked too, and it's even being translated by hackers.

This game, on the other hand, requires special technology built into the cart, and a separate peripheral. Unless pirates find a ridiculous way to map the whole keyboard into the DS' buttons like they did with Guitar Hero On Tour, this game is unpiratable.

Yea but if they did it for a popular game then they'd just release an updated cart. Since if a popular game does something chances are other games will follow making it a valid update.

Wonder how many of these will end up selling just for the keyboard to *sinistermusicalinterlude* hackers who could care less about the game.

Hey, there's a home button on there. Maybe that means proprietary cross-compatibility with the Wii? The DS doesn't have a home button does it? I know the 3DS will, but I never got a DS so I'm not that familiar with it.

This reminds of way back, there was a "game" for the original Game Boy that was a productivity suite. It was called "Work Boy", and had a small stand to prop the Game Boy up, and a small keyboard. The keyboard came with a "game" for word processing, and something else built in. Two other carts were made, one for calculators and conversions (including money and such) and another for something else.

Never went over big, I think it was around $70. I don't remember how you actually got the data off, but I think it had a pc link or something.

I just looked it up, and it was never released.

Found a pic of it.
