The beta will be accessible from the US and Europe via servers located on the West Coast, East Coast and one in the EU. Though the game will include language options for English, French, German, Polish, Turkish Italian, Russian and Spanish, English will be the only dialect permissible in chat. Bigpoint hasn't said wether or not the word "frak" will be filtered.

Bigpoint Games is getting its space combat MMO based on Syfy's Battlestar Galactica reboot ready for open beta on February 8. Currently in closed beta, the browser-based Battlestar Galactica Online will let PC and Mac players live out their fantasies of piloting Vipers -- or Cylon Raiders, if you're secretly a toaster -- free-of-charge, with gameplay and cosmetic enhancements available for unlock with Colonial credits real cash money.

Finally started second season a day ago (almost done! ) and as much as I love Battlestar/caprica...I just do not see the need for any mmo. This is one of those cases where this licensing seems to cheapen the dramatic weight of the show. So far in the story no battle has felt arbitrary. But we could always use a good tie fighter clone.

Choosing between human and toaster is gonna be really frakkin' hard...
Almost done with Season 2, so maybe finishing the series will help me decide.

If you stop at Season 3, you might be onto it. If you watch the rest of BSG, you'll be through with everything BSG for life.

The whole channel has been going downhill, sadly.

I love BSG, but am unsure what to expect from a browser-based MMO.

I'm in the closed beta and I was shocked with how good it looks and plays for a browser game. It's actually pretty damn fun.
It was made with Unity which is a pretty powerful free game engine. You can play around with it for free if anyone is curious.

Frakkin syfy channel. Let's put on more wrasslin and cancel all these sci-eents fixin tele-shows; we haven't lost us a ton of viewers and respect since our newfangled name was created. Yahoo!

(also, I think I was channeling Vic from New Vegas for some reason)
BSG was one of the last best shows on the channel. A bit concerned about it becoming a bad game (or cancelled like the Stargate MMO)

I'm in the closed beta (and, obviously, under NDA) so I can't say much. But I can say this; It's better than you might assume and certainly worth your interest.
A lot of love and care went into making sure it fit within the universe of BSG without destroying cannon or diminishing the scale.

I tried the closed beta as well, and I have to say this thing sucks hardcore
Graphics are OK for a browser game, but not anything special
And the gameplay is the worst--boring nd not at all like BSG. In fact it's pretty much a BSG game in name only, it doesn't follow the series at all except for you've got the colonial fleet, but the purpose is to take over all the outposts which makes no sense.

Well, he is sadly correct....original spelling was used. New show changed it to be a" four letter word". My guess is he was just mistaken though. No sensible human being would admit to ever having watched the original show. (Okay, when we were kids it may have been okay.)
