Here's hoping it hits PSN, the after years was fun, but definitely not worth the price of entry on the Wii.

I would like to play this on PSN as well. Why do they keep only releasing these remakes on handhelds?

Yeah I meant PSN for PSP, I much prefer the online copies of games to the UMD. (possibly because I have a PSP2000 and PSPgo)

although don't get me wrong, I wouldnt mind this a PS Mini or something :)

PSN Mini's can't go over $10, so it won't be a mini.

I do hope this is avail for PSN download on PSPgo though.

Why would it...? It's the original 2d version. That'd just be weird.

If they have told me this game will get so many re-releases, I would not have played the original games 6 times. Oh well..

@KinseySS If given the option, I might buy it on UMD and digital. (Wouldn't be the first time.)

I LOVE FFIV and this looks like the best version ever. I want this on my shelf. But I also want this on my Go and eventually my NGP.

If this was originally Final Fantasy II on SNES, does that mean that Final Fantasy II for the PSP is the same game as this? Or is this another case of Square screwing with their naming convention?

@liquidsoap89 Final Fantasy II Anniversary on PSP is a remake of the real Final Fantasy II. This is Final Fantasy IV done in the same manner.

After FFVII came out and enlightened everyone outside of Japan about the real numeration of the series, Squaresoft stopped falsely labeling them.

As far as Squenix is concerned, that whole misnaming thing never happened. When they mention FFII, they refer to the second installment in the series. When they're talking about the fourth, they'll always call it FFIV. Same with VI, too.

Kinda makes sense, too. If I was them I'd be wanting to sweep that whole embarrassment under the rug, too.

Awesome thanks guys, that clears up a lot of confusion.

Was Final Fantasy 3 ever released for the PSP? I remember hearing that 3 was only in Japan or something...

@liquidsoap89

no, Final Fantasy 3 oddly has only been released in the U. S. on the Nintendo DS. I believe they released it on DS around the time that the PSP got 1 and 2 for the whole 20th anniversary thing. I don't know why they didn't release it on PSone back when they rereleased the other 5 of the original 6. If you have a DS though I reccomend FF3. Its cool because you can change your character's class whenever you want which dictates their stats when they level up. Plus you can find it for about 15 or 20 bucks.

Actually Final Fantasy 3 (FFVI) was the turning point for the series with fandom in the US and is the highest point in the series. The series just got worse at a shockingly fast pace after 6.

@Anticrawl I won't argue that point. The popularity of Final Fantasy III on SNES probably lead to the adoption of the real numeration by VII. Maybe Sony had something to do with it too. Perhaps Nintendo of America we to blame for the debacle to begin with, I really don't know.

Point being, once VII came out, the cat was out of the bag. There was simply no longer any point confusing people with false monikers. Especially in an increasingly global market. Though to this day, many people are still confused.

I'm really just tired of Square by now. I'm not funding them any more by buying rehash/re-package #who knows what.

So if I'm counting this right, this is the -fourth- version of this game they've brought out? I'm not just talking ports. I'm talking full graphical overhauls. One original and -three- full remakes. Stop and think about that for a second.

Why the hell do they keep doing this when nobody's asking for it and -everybody's- asking for a goddamn FFVI remake? WTF, Squenix? It's like they get off on making their fans squirm. Or maybe they just hate FFVI, because they know they haven't topped it since, and never will, with their stupid belt and zipper character designs?

Or maybe they just respect FFVI too much to whore it out like they have FFIV, and if theyre gonna do a remake, they wanna do it right. ........nahhhhhh. That'd be giving them too much credit.

Why can't they make console games for consoles? I have component cables for my PSP and all, but if I wanted to use my handheld, I'd use it for handheld games. Not console games ported to a handheld.

Can't wait to get this game. Now shall I get the UMD or buy it over PSN?!? I actually don't mind UMD's all that much plus it will come with a case and instruction booklet, only bad thing is I won't be able to play it on the PSP2...
