I was hoping for a huge multiplayer mode but co-op is fine. Surviving the zombie apocalypse is always better with company.

Hopefully this isn't too big for an XBLA game. Sounds like its hitting all the right notes.

i'd love to see an RPG FPS about a zombie apocalypse. like Half Life two but you are just a regular guy who has survive and escape the zombies. something with awesome characters and a well written story. a realistic representation of a zombie outbreak if it actually happened. sounds like this game might just deliver.

I'm not sure why anything like this has never been done before. It's the most basic and common type game around yet nobody bothered to do it to zombies, and that's what it needs most. Screw L4D and CoD Zombies, I couldn't be bothered. Waste of time.

i know! what i really want is an experience like Half Life 2 but i am being chased by or hiding from zombies the whole time. but make it real. don't give me a rocket launcher, laser gun, or fully automatic weapons with a bazillion rounds of ammo. those are not things i would have access to and anyone can kill zombies with that. give me a 9mm with as many clips as a normal man could carry and a baseball bat. things that i would actually have access to.

Nice. I really look forward to seeing how Class3 (and later, Class4) turn out. This is a great take on a zombie-based video game, and it surprises me that no one has either thought of making a game like this before, or actually TRIED to make a game like this before. Assuming this game makes it off the ground, day one buy for me.

With so many zombie games that have come out I'm sure we're going to be able to look at many parts of it and recognize other zombie games. But it sounds like you will need more strategy than we've seen in the genre before

What we need is a mix of EVO(the on the SNES) and undead, only you start out as a parasitic worm then can evolve into a demon lord. have goal centric open world maps or something!

Hell yeah, E.V.O. was a freaking amazing game. We need more stuff like that, period.

Now THIS is what I want in a zombie game.

Not just the boring, mindless blasting of a billion zombies in games like Left4Dead. Nazi zombies was fun for a while in World at War, but the more recent maps are just the same thing, little corridors to blast away at them and try to get a higher score.

Some kind of Fallout 3-like open world WITH awesome co-op gameplay, that's where the potential is at. I know I'd be heading out with a few friends to find the biggest ship we could, commandeer it, and head out to some nice sunny Pacific island. It'd be a thousand times better than just holding down t3h buttons until the zombies fall over in left4dead.

The latest L4D campaign was about finding a boat to get to an island. Bill was at least smart enough not to go for "The biggest one".

I am hyped for the ideas in this game too, but let's not poop on a totally fun game like Left4Dead. It's possible to like both. You don't have to pick a side.

About time someone got the concept behind a good zombie game! Good luck guys. Another title that would have been cool is Irrationals scrapped zombie game Division 9...

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/01/12/trailer-for-irrational-s-scrapped-zombie-game.aspx

I like the idea of surviving a zombie apocolypse, not just running around killing. Good Job!

YES. Finally someone gets it. I was afraid the industry was going to get tired of making zombie games before a proper one had even appeared. We haven't seen any so far. We've only seen boring action shooters, and people are already starting to chant "no more zombies" which is just frustrating.

Ironically, AFAIK the original Resident Evil games have been the closest we've ever gotten. That was before the whole industry started crapping out linear action games exclusively.

Speaking of which I would like to see a well crafted mix of the classic RE titles and say System shock 2 or a much slower paced L4D.

You have limited resources/enemies per map/area its not about numbers as much as making the numbers count while tilting the odds against you.

Take physics into account limit zombies to low ground, ground and rarer mutated types like leaper/jumper/runner but mostly its just you trying to survive by unlocking bit by bit one area/map at a time with limited or no invisible walls.

For some strange reason I am reminded of the town in Parasite eve 2 while I am typing this.

Dead State is going to be turn-based and that really feels like it'll detract from the experience, but this.

This game.

This game is so far hitting all the right chords with me and no game before has ever done that

"No game has really captured, in our opinion, what makes the zombie genre so popular and so compelling," And so the bar just got set higher. I am now expecting the best thing ever.

Just for info, I thought L4D (take on the 70's/80's zombie movie) and Undead Nightmare (Weird West) really "got it". So you've got your work cut out chum.

I would love it if it's along the same notes as vampire masquerade. Also it would be even greater if they somehow made every play through different. it would get old fast once you knew the best places to camp out at.

"On top of armaments, players will also need to keep a constant eye out for other tools necessary for their survival -- Strain named copper wire, food and (for more permanent zombie-free settlements) fruit and vegetable seeds as examples. Players will also need to rescue "human resources" who can help in their plight, such as electricians who can help repair any damaged electronics in their home bases."

Sounds kind of like Harvest Moon... with zombies.

Which is oddly REALLY appealing on several levels.

Seeing as Microsoft is publishing the game I'm aware there isn't any chance for a PS3 version... but I wonder is there's any hope for a PC version. I don't care if it's a quick port! I mean, it's being developed on a PC, why not sell it for PC too?

Microsoft is publishing.... weird.
Makes sense though, what with Halo being over. I guess they're looking for a new flagship franchise. Odd choice though, and awfully risky too. L4D, Resident Evil might not be the the zombie game we all dreamed of, but this type of game is either going to explode, or it's going to crash unlike anything you've ever seen. If it's going to be a true MMO, with hundreds or even thousands playing, they're going to need dedicated servers and an army of programmers on hand to keep it all running smoothly. And they say they want to make it free to play (outside of the Xbox Gold membership), yeah, we'll see if that works.

Either way, definetly going to check out CLASS3, go from there.

Harvest Moon never gained enough popularity although it was addictive. This one, if done well, will get the popularity.
