Just update the original article before this one to remove redundancy.

Class3 better have multiplayer co-op if it has a big ol' open world.

Because I'm not really interested in an MMOZ that much. But maybe an MZ, a Massive Zombie

so they are going to do the torchlight formula with this game.

Well Torchlight has put the MMO on the back burner, with no release date. Instead they're working on Torchlight 2, which will have 4 player coop.

I really hope these guys can pave the way for other devs to develop MMOs for 360.

Do XBOX people really care that they might have to pay subscription fees for an MMO? I don't get the problem.

It's not the people, it's Microsoft. MS doesn't like the idea that a dev can make money off of their services without them getting a share in it. With PS3, it's fine because it's a free service anyway. But since this is a MGS published game, it'll allow the dev to work something out without there being a subscription fee since they're being backed by MS.

Ah so MS wants a cut of the sub fees too. That's sinister.

It's not so much sinister as it is fair. If you had a service & people were making money off your service without you getting any of it, would you want them to continue?

You mean like ISP's? People make money off the "dumb pipes" all the time, and though they complain about it, it would not be fair for them to get a portion of my XBL, Netflix, etc subscription fee.

If you paid a subscription for an XBL MMO, you'd be paying 3 groups of people to get there, but none of them necessarily deserve any of each other's money. You're paying MS for social services and your ISP for the connection, and I don't see why either of them then need a share of the money that's preportedly going to maintain the online world on a completely different company's servers.

It's money-grubbing and portal control, that's what it is.

XBL isn't running on your ISPs network servers though.

What? So you're saying that if I stopped paying Comcast I could still use XBL? If only...

Can we skip Class4 and go straight to the Class Six? I'm running low on Johnnie Walker.

I know you're making a joke, but if ya didn't know the class 4 thing is a reference to Zombie Survival Guide.

I say go for a F2P game with microtransactions to monetize the game. If it's done well, people will pay for anything. Including clothing for a virtual version of themselves. If users have to pay $2.00 to access another section of the world, I bet they will. Especially if the game is good.

@AmanteDuck

I think they'll do F2P & then have DLC at launch with guns, clothing, tattoos, hair styles, etc. It worked with the Avatars. It's been proven that people will pay for pretty much useless virtual items

Jeff Strain has had a lot of success before opening his own Studio. I would not put it past him to make Class3 a good game. I would be willing to actually try this out & see where this goes. Also, an XBLA title is an easy pill to swallow if it is not good & avoids committing to a full title.

This guy has the stuff needed to make an amazing game, and the right philosophy to making a successful MMO.
"To make it fun, you have to make sure you have a fun game first"
Final Fantasy XIV could've learnt a lot from that one line...

I hope this game does well, it might be the tipping point for me getting an Xbox 360.

It is going to be interesting to see how much they are going to charge for a subscription and how much console players are willing to pay considering they pay for XBL.
