I'm actually praying for a real-world zombocalypse to finally free us from the neverending, seemingly unkillable, onslaught of zombie themed media. HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH, PEOPLE?!

Oh.... oh my god.

I think this might be my dream game. I talked about it months ago on some zombie game topic here on joystiq too. So, so intrigued

Im right there with you, once a big Left4Dead fan until it repetitive game play/ scenarios wore me out. This has potential for some truely memorable moments if done right!

Can you imagine talking to ur friends like, "where are you? We are waiting ya." - response, "I am kinda stuck in the Mall area over by the -AHHH!!!!"

Hope this is a good one, but come on, no PSN, no PC launch? What's the deal?

This project seems so volatile that i think if it does well, you'll see it on PC in no time. For now its on trial even in development.

Yeah, actually I remember reading about this one a year ago, and about how it was being designed as a console only game. In the whole description of their game and mission, they seem very "anti-port" so odds of it coming to PC don't sound good, but I'll still be hopeful...

Is this concept art, or what the game screen will look like? It looks like "Where in The Zombie Apocalypse is Carmen Sandiego"... which isn't such a bad idea now that I think about it...

Despite zombie game fatigue I am interested due to the fact that I've had many discussions with friends on how to pull off a Zombie MMO, and always walk away shaking my head, deeming the concept impossible. This game could provide an interesting first step to that "impossibility".

Honestly, why hasn't an open world Zombie survival game been made yet? Dead Rising doesn't count in my "open world" scenario. I'm thinking Fallout/Oblivion/... open world. Out of all the games featuring Zombies, this is the one that has YET to be done? I find that odd...

@AmanteDuck

Those titles are more sandbox due to online inabilities.

There honestly aren't many Open World or Sandbox zombie games.
Dead Rising has pretty punishing constraints, where you have to be at certain places at a certain time, and do a certain thing, or your campaign fails. Maybe a little bit sand boxy, but not really a "do whatever you want, whenever you want" open world kind of experience, if you ask me. (Still a great game though)

I wish that there was a mode like that in Dead Rising!!!
All I wanted to do in that game was play around in the mall with different weapons and take my time killing zombies... the time constraints just weren't for me.

I remember when this was an MMO being built for PS3 and 360 with the combat designer from God of War 1. While I am disappointed at the drop in scale, I am happy to see this business model of releasing a full game on a smaller scale before investing more heavily. This is a step in the right direction of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

@PatientJ Sorry, but I seem to be reading your comment wrong or something. If the publisher is Microsoft, I believe that it was never going to be released for the PS3. We don't know much yet (or, maybe, I don't know much yet) to know if it did drop in scale. It might not be an mmo, but it is possible it could have a 32/16 man sandbox mode instead. Also, what is with that Grand Turismo Prologue thing your going on about?

EGM 2421 p40-43
There was no publisher at the time and it was 100% an MMO. What I like is that they are trying something on a smaller scale and building up some revenue/credibility at the same time with the Class3 game (By the way, I love the Max Brooks reference in the title and the sense of something bigger coming as a result). GT5: Prologue was release years ago by Sony and served as a way to give fans a taste of what was to come and to test things on a massive scale on PS3. It was a rip-off, even at $40, because it wasn't enough to qualify as a game. Hopefully, Undead Labs will not make the same mistake and price it appropriately.
