Though most of the Kings and Castles progress updates delivered by developer Gas Powered Games have been absolutely rife with levity and good cheer, the latest word from founder Chris Taylor is decidedly non-hilarious. Speaking to Big Download, Taylor explained, "We've put the project on hold for now, but the moment I know more I will let you know." When pressed for further info, he added, "I can't go into those details just yet... let's call it a 'timing' thing."
We hope Gas Powered Games can get the project back on track once the "timing" is right -- not only because the game looks really fun, but also because, man, we miss those video updates.

That's probably wise. They should be converting their games to run on Ethanol.

Sad to hear it, Supreme Commander and FC were so good, and we have so few solid PC developers left these days I hoped these guys could keep up the good work but its been one flubbup after another for them. Anybody know if Space Siege is even worth checking out?

Taylor left a pretty sour taste in RPGers mouths after the last 3, DS2 had horrible patch and mod support (1 guy), and Space Siege was one of the biggeset hush hush failures I've seen (right next to hellgate). Demigod was completely trumped by LoL and HoN and didn't really give any innovation to the now blooming retail AoS/DotA market.
I'm surprised GPG is still in business after those 3 releases, but I guess they have SC1/2 to hold them afloat even if I think those are also piles of junk.
I'm pretty much thrilled that Obsidian picked up rights to do DS3, atleast GPG can't mess with their own stuff.
Chris Taylor's head is getting too big, if you look at the website he's now marketing his games like Sid Meier . 'Chris Taylor's Kings & Castles"
Granted I was hopeful that K&C would pull them out of the much they've put themselves in but I've pretty much sworn off purchasing anything from GPG until I've played it and know it's going to be solid and have great support.

@JWest08 To be perfectly fair, a game is more often than not the creative endeavor of multiple people ... sometimes over one hundred. A novel is most often the work of a single author.
To be on topic, I'm terribly disapointed that this game is on hold. I had been watching all the videos, and it seemed like a great game. Hope to see more of it, and I hope this isn't a sign of trouble with the externally developed Dungeon Siege III. GPG is a great studio, save for the miserable Space Siege, I'd hate to see them shuttered.

@JWest08 - I don't mean it like he has no right to tag a game he's making, but it seems like a marketing play. Similar to tagging a Sid Meier game as such like the more recent Railroads, or like when random companies were claiming 'Sir British' was working on their MMO (although he seemed to not be able to conjure up anything but fail..). I don't see it as a good thing when I see someone slapping their name on a title, in my mind it immediately triggers a 'this developer is reaching.' response.
