Ten new, totally gnarly tracks released for GH: Warriors of Rock

Activision and Beenox have really outdone themselves with the 10-song February Mega Pack DLC for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, available today on 360, PS3 and Wii. Acknowledging that this is the year's most tender, loving month, the two have eschewed the game's core musical genres, adding selections from gentle songsmiths like Nick Drake, Iron and Wine, Damien Rice, and -- oh? No, they're not doing that? The ten songs are from rock outfits Marilyn Manson, Children of Bodom and Black Label Society? Well then.

I have noticed that Guitar Hero is going more and more metal. I guess that is why as a metal head I play more Guitar Hero. Rock Band seems to go for that hipster rock crap I am not into. I know there are RB and GH fanboys but these games are the same damn game. It is about your preference in music.

I just hope Harmonix stays alive enough to March so I can buy the real guitar assuming it doesn't suck. I will probably one of 500 people that will buy it.

I wish that were the case, I've been dying for more real indie/alternative packs. Bands like Nada Surf, Built to Spill, Broken Social Scene, Radiohead and Mew.
Though I guess we've gotten some great songs in the last game (Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure), and there have been some indie/alternative DLC releases (Pixies, Sonic Youth, Spoon).

I actually like those bands. Hipster rock is more Matt and Kim. You know the bands with 2 members and one is a chick with hair bangs. Lots of stupid keyboards. Those crap bands are hipster rock.

@FriedConsole Have you seen the Rock Band Network? It's got like hundreds of metal songs.

i was just gonna say the same thing... there are TONS of metal songs... i dont even like half the songs but i always download all the difficult tracks.. so i end up with alot of metal

Good songs for people that like these bands I guess. Nothing for me though.

Guitar Hero pretty much stopped being good after number three. Why they keep pushing these games out I will never know.

I'll stick to Rock Band. Better songs, better variety, better game.
