This is a must buy for me. In fact, I wish they had just re-made LA Confidential as this game and let me play right through it.

@ericelftmann There are far, far better noir films than L.A Confidential. Oh, and they were to be seen at least 5 decades before that particular movie.

well... I gotta give 'em that. It was a great movie :)

Also, this game has reminded me of it a lot the more I've learned about it.

As excited as I am for this game, I really wish it had an open world sandbox element to it so I could just run around in old Los Angeles all I want.

From what I understand, you can travel around the city and just explore but unlike GTA, there is not a focus on activities to do all over the city.

@Landosystem It does.. it's just isn't as emphasized this time around.
For example, there are random crimes around the city you can choose to help out on or not. You might see a crime in progress or hear one over the radio. I'm hoping that having this random crime element carries all the way through the game.. so that you could even pull someone over and write them a ticket for speeding or having a tail light out if you wanted.

I can't wait to play this game. Seeing it makes me wish Rockstar create a GTA game set in a 30s/40s Liberty City, it would really add to the lore of GTA and no doubt would be awesome.

Does anyone know if this game will have a graphics setting that lets you play it in black-and-white?

It just doesn't feel like a true noire to me until I can kill the color, and I'd rather not have to manually tell my TV to do it.

@macnbc Rather than manually telling your console to do it?...Riiiiight, so you want them to develop a switch to manually kill colour because you don't want to flick a switch on your set that does pre-tty much the same thing.

O....K....

chances are you can make a setting on your tv and save it as expert or b&w or something else. you know how tv's come with the standard movie, cinematic, vivid, sports, settings, just make your own.

hell, everyone here should be making their own because the out of the box setting are horrendous and are calibrated for stores

I second this-- everyone: check the internet for ideal settings for whatever model of TV you bought. Someone always has these good templates figured out and posted somewhere.

not sure if it matters to you- but PS3 was the lead platform. which means that both versions should look 99.9% identical. i guess just go for controller preference, or wait and see if they announce one console getting exclusive content.

weren't they meant to make a game with sony at some point? the agent? who knows if that is still happening? the way rockstar and sony work they'll delay a game for years until they think it's right. which I love and hate

Looks like Heavy Rain and GTA slammed together in what seems to be an incredibly promising game.

And the facial movements. Jesus Christ, the lip sync is near perfection (better than Heavy Rain). The only problem is that some of characters seem like they have a layer of Vaseline smeared on their face. Other than that, I just hope the overall gameplay is just as good as what these videos put it out to be.

Rockstar games have always been about a good, character driven story underneath all that destruction. LA Noire really seems to be focusing on this. I think the reviewers will pull through.

@Pushtrak You do realize that R* has many subsiduaries and Team Bondi is basically just one of them. I didn't see anyone complaining about RDR's developers not getting enough credit but it is because they changed their name to Rockstar San Diego. Mock my words their studio is probably gonna be changed into something like R* Australia or R* Sydney. On another this game looks great and I can't wait for May 17.

@Abel Android I see. You do not know about the history of L.A Noire, or about Team Bondi. Nice attempt to come across like you know what you are talking about, but sadly, you do not.

Ok, let us look at L.A Noire. It started out as a project being funded by SCEA. However, Sony pulled funding on the game because deadlines were being missed and other issues. Sony in short were not happy and wanted out. The game that was penned as a PS3 exclusive then passed hands to Rockstar.

At this point, the game was pegged for next generation consoles as can be seen on the Team Bondi site from back in late 05 or 06. Team Bondi are an independent studio, with a title being published by Rockstar.

Rockstar and Sony came to an agreement to make The Agent a PS3 exclusive.

Rockstar San Diego, formerly Angel Studios was acquired by Take-Two in 2002. Show me evidence for Team Bondi being acquired.

(In future, provide evidence when you talk about something. Though maybe your internet presence would be non existent because you'd see just because you think it, doesn't make it true.)

@AlphaJace While I've been hyped for this game since 2006, I would classify this game as a model of technology not of originality. Stories like this have been around since the 30s.

Technology will push the medium of gaming forward, most certainly. But to call this originality is ignoring the source material from which this type of story is derived.

Entirely agree bro, and I hope other people understand that the overall story idea isn't original but the main point is, while you are playing it, you're EXPERIENCING something worthwhile.
