He's a drunked guy who has dreams of a Russian Assassins Ancestor who participated in the Tunguska event (go google it, it's pretty scary stuff)...
The present guy got a visit from the assassin's and discovers that he himself is an Assassins, while the Ancestor is in pursue of the Scepter (an artifact like the apple)... It's really cool, they show a little more about the Nowadays assassin's clan... I'm digging it A LOT

Maybe I'm the only one thinking this, but... What the hell?! Why can't they just release Assassin's Creed 3 then let it die? The stories are getting pretty generic and pathetic now, too.
They're killing this franchise and it's hurting a lot. I'm probably the only one who thinks so, but Brotherhood was a decline in my opinion. I can already see this series being a load of crap like Call of Duty (which to be fair, are not BAD games, but there are so many better ones).
