Hell yeah, these games are so difficult and satisfying. I still have the Dreamcast version.

I'm definitely in for this one.

Missile spam is best spam.
Barring laser spam, naturally.

FINALLY Bangai-O on a platform that won't be plagued by massive slowdown with everything going on on-screen. Though the DC version was pretty good (the best version so far).

Japanese Shoot 'em Ups are in the 'effing hard' category. Super Meat Boy doesn't even come close. Titles Mushihime-sama Futari and Touhou 08 still haunt me. *shrugs*
Great respects to this guy btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70iFdnI-xfA

"Titles like* Mushihime-same ...."
Give me an editing button, Joystiq! I am too lazy to proofread, and it isn't that hard

Also, this things looks great. Has a 'bullet hell' feeling to it, but a ton easier, since large playing fields make it possible to evade most attacks.

Being able to beat Mushihime-sama Futari Black Label on God Mode without a SINGLE DEATH (mind you, if you die once you won't be able to fight the final boss) gets some respect. Though some pity too, since he 'wasted' his time learning bullet patterns in full detail, but who am I to judge?

Fun story: About a month or so ago I bought a copy of Bangai-O Spirits for the Nintendo DS because I'd heard a lot of good things about it. I then proceeded to not have the patience to figure out what the Christ was going on. Apparently it has an incredibly intricate game system that rewards strategy and skill in equal measure. But the hell if I know, because after a couple hours with the damned thing all I ever figured out how to do was launch missiles.

My point is, this game is hella Japanese.

Ditto. I prefer games that have a simple rule set that allow for challenging and complex gameplay. Easy to pick up, tough to master, like N+, Ikaruga or Super Meat Boy. Understanding this game's mechanics is in of itself a challenge. Just too many variables going on.
