Its definately quite fun but the content was a bit short when you figure out the best combos even with it only being $10.

Still a great game though.

Thats why I don't use the best combos... I use the most fun combos! You can do so many interesting things in this game....

They should release the 'end friendship' button as paid DLC.

I bought it, becuase I have Bootcamp. But. I was hoping that a native mac version would be coming. Since it uses XNA, though, I don't think it will ever come to the Mac.It is such a good game. But, I wish I didn't have to reboot my computer to play.

Easy solution here is to buy a PC.

I dont really understand the current fad of buying a Mac and then running Windows on it anyways. Pretty much everyone i know with a Mac uses Windows on it the majority of the time, in which case its like, why not just get a PC.

@R Planteer Not to mention that you could easily have a better PC for less than the price you paid for the mac.

@R Planteer Not going to lie, I have never run Windows on my Mac... But then again, I also own a PC, so I have no reason to. I do my gaming on my PC, and everything else on the Mac... mostly for the battery life tbh, most of my friend's PC laptops last 2-6 hours at the most, so my nice 8 hour battery makes life easier.

@R Planteer

I run windows on my mac because I write books for a living, and I prefer to use it Macside.
I also have a mac mini with upgraded 8 gigs of ram and windows 7 to play pc games.
Some people (like myself) really like the Mac OS for work related stuff, but we also like to game too. So it's nice they offered boot camp as a "best of both worlds."
Not everybody who uses Mac does it just to look cool on campuses. :P

Oh. My. Goodness(edited). Why don't you link to Arrowhead's website, or Steam Link. I hate you guys for putting the Joystiq links to Magicka in for the "Magicka" link. You guys really piss me off with that.

Really? You're really bitching about a link that shows all older posts relating to Magicka on Joystiq. You are seriously so lazy that you can't go to Google and type "Magicka."

In the time it took you to type that phrase above me, you could've easily done it.

Some people... Confuse me.

No, he's right. If the post is about Magicka, a link with Magicka highlighted shouldn't link to a Joystiq search of Magicka. Rather, it should link to the relevant source, whether it's a store page or the website for the game itself. This is just a shameless ploy to increase hits.

Except all Joystiq sites do that for games that they're talking about. It's really not that big of a deal, and certainly nothing worth starting a hissy fit over. It's just a unique quirk of the Joystiq network.

It's especially annoying when said story is the only story on the site for that game, so when you click it, you get a listing of that story.

And the keyword searches aren't exactly in order. If I type in Duke Nukem, I should expect to get yesterday's story first, right? Nope, I get a story from 2 or 3 years ago first.

I bought it for the multiplayer. Unfortunately even after two weeks, and numerous patches, multiplayer is still broken.
For me every online game (yes, that is 100%) eventually comes to a point where the lag makes it impossible to do anything.
This isn't like 5 second ping. It is a complete loss of data which does not improve. Eventually everybody dies due to not being able to properly control the character.

As for single player I have encounter many game ending bugs, but with reloads I eventually beat it. It is extremely annoying how the player has to restart the whole level due to game ending bugs that require you to restart the game.

This game is like a more refined flash game. I personally do not believe it is worth $10 due to the amount of bugs and a lack of playable mutliplayer.

Not that I'm trying to defend Magicka, because it was extremely broken, but after the barrage of patches that the devs have been working tirelessly on, this game is playable, even online... For me, anyway.

I'm not sure what problems you're encountering, but I've been successfully playing online with my friends since patch 1.3.3.7. I remember this patch, because of the numbers.

I personally love this game, the idea is amazing. The execution - not so much. But after the X weeks of solid patching, it is definitely worth $10.

I do agree the amount of patches being released (they even work on weekends) is quite impressive, but I just cannot get over the fact a major component is missing.

To me, it doesn't matter if they are gun-ho on fixing the game if the game was released with that many bugs and the inability to play multiplayer.

To be honest I do not see that network fix coming anytime soon since they do not have the same experience as other developers (these are eight students from Sweden!)
Anyways i'm sure they can do well in this age of gaming, but I won't be paying out for another game from them without doing a bit more research.

Well worth the $10 I spent. Every single last penny of it. Thanks to everyone behind this great game. And thanks for making sure you patch up the issues.

This game should have a much higher score from professional reviewers on Metacritic than 74. I understand that it came out with some glaring bugs, but a couple weeks later and it's nearly perfect. That's actually quite impressive given such a small team (I assume).

But the #1 thing you have to take into account with this game is that it costs ONLY $10! Trust me, I've already played this game for about a dozen hours. The main story is lengthy (and hilarious) for that price, and the challenge modes are a blast too.

That said, I probably wouldn't play this game at all if I weren't playing it with a close friend. Doing so increases the fun factor by 100x.

I was also shocked by the low metacritic score, turns out it was caused by one reviewer (BigPond GameArena) giving it 3 out of 10.

This game has been really disappointing for me. I'm just not having fun playing it. You have this glorious spell combination system that has endless possibilities, and 90% of the combinations aren't worth squat. Arcane AoE spam is ridiculously effective. Doing anything else other than that and a few various beam attacks is just making things harder than they need to be.

I understand its a $10 game, but I didn't expect it to be this shallow. Its obvious that literally all of their resources went into creating the spell system at the expense of all else, and it really hurts the game overall.

Oh and if you don't have Steam friends or friends that own the game, you can forget about multiplayer. Public games don't exist (unless your connection is good enough to host them, which it probably isn't).

I think I'm playing it wrong. Is all you do run to one screen, shoot lasers while running and healing self, then advance to the next screen and repeat? Any other spells take too long to queue up so by then you're either dead or swamped with enemies and will soon be dead.
