Joystiq, this may be my first comment but I have grown so tired of the awful advertising on your trailers that I feel compelled to comment.

Your advertising is so obnoxious that whenever you post a video, I go out of my way to go watch it on GameTrailers.com.

It is bad enough that you force adverts before the video, but to then put pop up ads inside the video that *cannot be closed* is simply unacceptable. Clicking the "x" button opens a new window/tab with the product inside. This is unacceptable on any level. Not only is it obnoxious, but many times the advertising middleware in these applications do not scan their adverts for malicious viruses and other exploits.

Until you get rid of the pop up ads inside the video, I will not be viewing videos on your site anymore. I hope the rest of JoyStiq community agrees with this. You need to know that this is not acceptable, and your userbase won't put up with it anymore.

This may come as a shock to you but Joystiq writers don't work for free. Advertisements keep the site running and the staff employed.

I put up with advertisements as a way of saying "Thanks Joystiq, you're awesome"

Well, gametrailers IS the only video website in the world (wide web) in which the progress bar can be dragged to the end of the trailer to skip it. I wonder if they know about this and don't care because they get paid anyway.

Alright check it out, i shall now explain how too keep from watching these ads you speak of. I have not seen any of these ads on joystiq vids you speak of for years now. You just have to know how to use ad block plus. Okay so first click play on the vid then look in the lower left hand corner of your browser screen to see where the data is transferring from. Then click on the ad block plus button and click on Open blockable items. Scroll through the list and find the address of where the ad is streaming from, right click and block that domain. Now repeat for any other ad u want to block. When you refresh the page all ads will be gone. Your welcome.

Sure, but that doesn't mean they have to be annoyingly bad, or just plain out obnoxious (referring to the ads and methods used to show them).

I'm fine with the ads, but yes, the pop up during the trailer is annoying as hell. That's over kill.

It also goes to show how immature an industry web advertising is, even though Google can make billions off of it. You would think that one wouldn't wast time or money, no matter how cheap, placing ads geared to women.. This would be like EA advertising "Bullet Storm" during the Lifetime movie of the week.

@(Unverified) Fake "close" buttons on ads ARE completely unacceptable. Joystiq needs to make money through ads and I don't mind watching a commercial before a trailer.

But tricking people into opening an ad is just wildly out of bounds for any site that wants to be treated with credibility.

I have a feeling the Joystiq staff is no more pleased with this then us though they may not be able to do much about it.

The course of action that is most likely to result in change would be to complain to the companies advertised (who probably have no idea about how these ads are being handled). If they contact whatever advertising agency is responsible for this and complain you can bet that agency will listen.

A little back story before my question: I was recently in a car accident. It was completely my fault, I'd been texting and ran a red light. I managed to escape with a few minor injuries, but the occupants of the car I hit weren't so lucky. It was a family of gypsies and I rushed to their aid after checking to make sure I was okay. Unfortunately there was nothing I could do for them. There was an old woman in the back seat, and before she lost consciousness and drew her final breath, she whispered a curse at me. I couldn't make out the words, but her intentions were obvious.

So, my question is, did anyone else hear that awful music in this trailer or am I now paying for that terrible mistake?

The game looks fun, but Steve Blum is quickly becoming the new Nolan North.

I've been replaying Mass Effect 2 and whenever Grunt talks, I can't hear anything but Spike Spiegelsaurus.

People might hate me for this, and I don't know if this is what your saying, but he certainly does seem over exposed, he should sit some out :)

Grunt wasn't so bad though since it was modified, I was kinda happy when Wilson got shot :S
That being said, voice acting is a tough game so good for him :)

I love the fact that People Can Fly finally have another original IP coming to market. Painkiller was a BEAST and Tuesday can't get here fast enough.

I still don't see what the hoopla about this game is... Can someone please fill me in?

It's a stereotypical meat head (been done) space marine(been done) that kicks (been done), has a whip that grabs things (been done), that gives titles to kills (Been done) and is so "over the top" that it swears and makes fun of things (been done). The demo was fun the first time through, after those 12 minutes, I played it again and was utterly bored with doing the same thing.

Now I understand Cliffy B. has that whole Quintin Tarantino thing going and everyone will blow their load over every little thing he does, but let's be serious, nothing that this game has done is original and lost it's luster very quickly... the ad where they make fun of COD was hilarious though.

Couldn't agree more, If it's anything like the time I said something along these lines. you'll have someone being mad for disagreeing with them, chastise you for expressing your opinion, and then follow up with a classic 'GTFO.'

It certainly speaks a bit about the target demographic of the game, though that is a generalization.

It's too bad because I thought Painkiller was a blast, even though it was a bit trite...this looks trite, but definitely not my thing.

And why'd you do the same thing? I've when through the demo about 3 times and every time I found new and amusing ways to kill everybody. Been done? Yeah, been done, but not like this.

I'll probably pick this up for when it's less than $40. I played the demo and just got bored with it half way through. It looks really nice but the overall gameplay gets stale surprisingly fast. Get a bunch of points for doing crazy things with enemies then move on. It seems like a solid weekend rental.
