@DokiDokiBawanga Yeah, F you for making other awesome games, and improving your already great platform that will hopefully change the way games are sold to me so I don't have to spend 60 bucks on every game. How dare you?

@Bananarama what games l4d and portal? don't make me laugh. i don't play on pc so i don't use steam and pay 70-80 for my games so i don't have money to spend on shit that Gabe is putting out these days. tip: if you start something you finish it....

tip:just because you would rather have any product now than a good product later doesn't mean that other people feel the same.

Tip: Valve is a pc developer.
Be glad you are lucky enuf to get console ports.
I guess I could rag on Nintendo having only a few pc ports, right?

@DokiDokiBawanga that sounds like excellent advice, and I'm sure that's exactly what Gabe is having his team do. HL2E3 will be out when it's finished

My favorite part about threads like this is how Valve release solid, often genre changing or defining, and people still want EP3.
I don't know if it's sad that people want four hours of content that bad or if it's good that people like Half-Life that much.
I'm guessing both.

@Credge Have you actually played Half-Life? Do you know the story? Do you know the INSANE cliffhanger at the end of Episode 2? You'd want Episode 3. Or hell, even a book about Episode 3. Something, Gabe, SOMETHING!

Half Life kicks the shit out of Portal and L4D, of course people want more HL instead. How could you even compare them?

@Credge People always want what they don't have. The second they get Episode 3, there will suddenly be a demand for Ricochet 2 or something.

Ugh. These stupid kids. Lol, they didn't ask really any good questions aside from the first kid. There's so many things I could've asked this guy that I would've rather have heard about. I could only imagine how bored he was getting.

I would've asked about crates and why they thought that was a good idea.

I wonder if he specifically told the kids to "undercut the shit out of your competition."

Did he cover the part where you bash the Ps3 before you join it?

@Einlander For god sakes! Is it your personal family member? Who gives a sh*t? I would be more concerned with Gabe Newells addiction to his iPad!

Yeah. Platforms never improve, the PS3 is just the same today for developers as it was five years ago.
Moron.

Developmental tools.
As time goes on, and developers get a better idea of how a system works, and how to squeeze every last drop of performance out of it, not to mention work out any kinks in the hardware, the games usually improve. That's why games at the end of the life of the system look better and usually run better than games at the beginning.

He's also discovered that releasing average sequels to awesome games (L4D, ahem) is a way to not release Episode 3, if it even exists. I just want Half-Life and Aperture Science to come together

I'm still trying to get over the faact that this is a HIGH SCHOOL that has a sports and entertainment business management class. How many UNIVERSITIES even have a class for that?
Seriously, it's cool that Gabe spends time doing this, but I think it's largely lost on high schoolers. Leave that for a college course.

So many comments, and no fat jokes yet. Perhaps there is hope after all for HL3 (don't kid yourself, the window for EP3 proper has long since past).
