He used the SatAM styling and characters, which are still awesome. I grew up watching that show.

@Ryan P I have the box set, :D
Sonic is so depressing these days, he used to be so awesome, I grew up with both Sonic and Mario, but Sonic was always my favorite by far...

Uh...which one?
The Archie Comics one that was the basis for Sonic Spinball, or the really weird one where Sonic was voiced by Steve Urkel?

I still don't think Sonic sounds right unless he's voiced by Jaleel White.

It's a shame that SEGA took Sonic in a completely different direction than it's fans wanted. Fans wanted more 2D side-scrolling, SEGA produced a string of crappy 3D games. Fans liked SatAM's storyline and secondary characters, SEGA introduced their own inferior storyline and secondary characters. It seems that either SEGA is completely out of touch with their fans, has a big ego believing their ideas are better, or intentionally want to destroy the franchise.

Want a kick in the balls?
They were developing a SatAM-based game, but it only got so far as a prototype before it was canned.

More like it's a shame that the fans have no idea what they want. They wanted a 3D Sonic, they got Sonic Adventure. They wanted a more serious plot, they got Adventure 2. They wanted it to return to its roots, they got Sonic Heroes. They wanted more Shadow, they got Shadow. And every single time one of those games came out that answers the fans' requests, they complained. That's why I'm usually ashamed to call myself a Sonic fan because it means I'll be lumped together with the braindead morons who can't decide what they like. And while I agree that the pre-Colors 3D Sonics were above average at best, and terrible at worst, I still had fun playing them and, from the looks of Sonic Colors and Sonic 4, Sega IS indeed listening to the fans.
Also, this video was news-worthy... how?

I seem to remember Sonic Team saying they had requests for years for a traditional 2D Sonic, but they ignored them, because they wanted to do other things.
How does that give the fans what they wanted?

@erh Except you're wrong. When Sonic made the shift to 3D, so was everything else. It was the next shift in gaming, everybody wanted 3D, nobody really sat there and predicted that the franchise was going to take the drastic and embarrassing downturn that it did.
The American versions of Sonic died on their own. SatAM failed to maintain ratings and got canceled, for example. Games are much more narrative now than they were back then, so it kind of became the task of localization teams to insert their own twists on the story to make it accessible. That is no longer the case.

it was awkward starting a conversation from the back view, I thought at first sonic was talking but without moving his lips lol. He should research what's known as the "shot reverse shot" method to smooth that out and or have mecha sonic move a little more while speaking, this is a cartoon after all, movement needs some exaggeration.
not too bad over all

Riveting. He's really managed to capture high octane action and frantic energy that keeps the Sonic franchise alive and viable to this day.

I would totally support this if he could get his hands on the SATAM voice actors. No offense to the ones currently being used, it just sounds like crap.

Sonic fans will eat up just about anything that's fed to them, aren't they? That was awful.
Sonic Fan Remix. That's where our hearts (and hopes) should be at.

I don't know, maybe the times are to blame, but I'd rather play Adventure or even Heroes over Sonic 4 any day. Don't get me wrong, I'm as old-school, 2D-loving gamer as gamers get, unfortunatelly Sonic 4 is just broken. I haven't even played the full game, went through the trial a couple of times and that was enough.

I don't understand why Sonic has such a screwball fanbase and I'm not talking about fans of the games. I'm talking about the furry people who worship Sonic. Some freak on deviantart (yeah that narrows it down, right?) made a 3D model of Sonic with a butt and genitalia and somebody with 3D studio max noticed that he used more polygons to create the butthole than the rest of the model's polygons combined. What is wrong with people!!!?!

Altho, he did give them more individual definition than the original version did.
