San Francisco's Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment is an organization "dedicated to the preservation of video games, and the presentation of games as art," but it has a problem: it's currently homeless. The MADE has a growing collection (some of which can be seen above) and a slew of ideas for programming (like classes, talks, and gaming parties), but needs "a safe space near public transit" to call its own.
And so it's taking to Kickstarter, where you can donate to help the organization towards its goal of raising $20,000. A measly $5 gets you a ticket to the museum if and when it opens; $1000 or more will put your name on the wall. In between, you can get access to a pre-opening party, or nab some signed games, T-shirts, and stickers. It sounds like a good cause if you're in San Francisco and happen to be the kind of person who'd like to visit a museum designed for video games.

That Dreamcast VMU (think that's what it's called) brings back memories. I think something like that would be cool for the next generation of consoles. Taking my chao with my anywhere was pretty cool and it's also good for showing one person info in splitscreen games without the other person being able to see.

That VMU is missing it's cap.

Depends on the museum.
If it's a smaller town museum, maybe not.
Something huge like the Smithsonian, which takes millions of dollars a year to keep up, yes.

@VeeDeeVee I have no idea where you live. I know you pay over a $US100 to go to the Lourve. I know I paid a lot of money to see 1000 crucificixtion scenes all over Italy.
I've never heard of a muesem people want to visit being free anywhere in the world. unless it is subsidized by local tax...then...who cares you are still paying except without the freedom of choice.
ps. your country sucks.

That's steep. It only cost me and the fiancee £30 each to visit the Louvre in 2003. Have prices really gone up that much?
And no it doesn't suck. It means I can visit my cities many museums as many times as I want for free, since I'm paying the same tax as say many European or American states/countries.

Should I live in SF, I'd let them use my place, free of charge. Of course, I'd say the museum is mine.

If they still need money in about half a year I can donate $1,000.00. I want to be on that wall! I'd also like a lifetime free entry but that might be to much.
